“Great villa in a good spot, helpful hosts”
Reviewed 3 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We loved the villa and the village. Had a great time exploring tavernas in surrounding villages and swimming in the pool on hot afternoons. Hosts were very helpful and responsive whenever we needed anything.

location great for being just out of busy resort, great to be able to walk to local shop and tavernas in village . extremely welcoming and friendly hosts and locals. beautiful views and easy to drive into Rethymnon and other places for beches and towns.
lovely spacious villa and great to have enough sunbeds at the pool for everyone!
Mrs Maria and her husband were great re communication if we enquired about something ,extremely quick response. Also very hospitable bringing us homemade food on our first day even when our flight was delayed and we got in late . she provided us some food on our last day and out of this world olive oil to take home.
The peoperty manager Valia was extremely efficient and helpful also able to reply to any concerns or queries.
one comment we would make would be to have the outside balcony dining area covered with a roof or canopy as it was too hot to sit in the sun to eat .and with a few more outside chairs to cater for all the people .at the table.,as part of our holiday is being able to 'al fresco' dine.
We would very happily stay here again.
Thank you very much for a lovely holiday.

Dear Ruth, we are truly happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and we will also take your feedback into consideration, even though all our guests usually prefer the large, outdoor dining area, as well as the shaded area by the pool for al fresco dining. We are looking forward to welcome you "home" again! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.

“A lovely week in this beautiful house.”
Reviewed 8 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We spent a lovely week in this beautiful house, superb for both young and adults, nine altogether. Special mention to the table tennis and gym room, very popular.
An owner out of the ordinary gave us a warm welcome with home made specialities and very helpful and attentive if there were questions to be solved.
The setting and view was beautiful, both sea and hillside.
The village, Roussospiti, 5 min. walk away was very charming with nice, helpful people.
Special mention also to Valia K, always attentive and helpful with all our questions.
We would love to come again. Thank you.

“Lovely villa but perhaps a little too remote”
Reviewed 6 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this Villa.
Good Points:
- beautiful Villa on a very large plot, lots of exposed stonework and lighting (27 light switches in the living room alone!)
- lovely pool area with plenty of seating
- very friendly manager who laid on sandwiches, snacks and drinks for our late arrival and a spinach and feta bake on our last day
- gym and table tennis table on the ground floor
So So Points:
- the Villa is huge yet a couple of the bedrooms are quite small and the bathrooms particularly so.
- twin bedroom on the ground floor doesn't have air con
- the kitchen is at the front of the Villa on the first floor so its a bit of a trek back and fore to the pool area and pool house to eat outside.
- although its only 7km or so from Rethymno, the roads are windy so it actually feels a lot further away from the coast than we thought. However taxis were easy to order with a bit of notice.
- I cant be sure but I suspect you get a bit more cloud cover in the hills than on the coast.

“Perfection in Crete”
Reviewed 12 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Villa Saradakis is the perfect place to stay in Crete if you wish to bring together friends, family, or even have a small retreat with your business or organization associates. Mrs. Maria Saradakis is your host, and she does everything to ensure that your stay is enjoyable.

The villa has 5 bedrooms and sleeps 11 people. There are 3 bathrooms. On the ground floor there is a full exercise room with a weight machine, a treadmill, and a ping pong table. The pool outside is a perfect size, and there is a wading pool for the little ones. There is also a pool house with wifi, and a large table with chairs--perfect for a summer meal by the pool. There is a grill next to the pool house. The kitchen in the villa is well-appointed, and there is a formal dining room off the living room. Everything is exceptionally clean. A housekeeper comes twice a week to clean and change sheets and towels. A very efficient washing machine is on the top floor; the kitchen has a dishwasher.

All of this detail does not really give the flavour of the house. The villa is located just outside the small town of Roussospiti, about a 20 minute drive from Rethymnon. The village has 2 tavernas and a small shopping mart. From the villa you can see the Mediterranean quite clearly. The front patio has shade in the mornings (perfect for breakfast outside) and looks due west, so the sunset over a small mountain in the distance is spectacular. The smell of wild thyme and marjoram scents the air, and you can listen to cicadas and goat bells while lounging on the many sunbeds next to the pool.

Mrs. Saradakis made us feel very welcome. The fridge had some water and food in it when we arrived. She greeted us with raki (the local brandy) and flowers, and later gave us homemade wine and made a local dish that kept 8 of us fed for 2 days. We were a group of 12 friends who stayed for two weeks in the villa. Everyone had a terrific time.

Since the villa is outside a small village, a rental car is necessary, although not absolutely essential. There is a local bus that serves Roussospiti and links the village to Rethymnon. A taxi from Rethymnon to the villa is about 14 euros. However, for those with heavy luggage who wish to take the bus, beware: the villa is at the top of a steep climb from the bus stop.

I highly recommend this villa as a vacation home. The location is fantastic, the owner terrific, the views spectacular, and the house extremely well-appointed. There is air-conditioning in all the rooms, and a wood-burning fireplace and central heating make this a villa for all seasons. The villa was originally Mrs. Saradakis' family home, and so the house offers a true Cretan welcome.
