I can't rate this hotel highly enough after just spending four nights here with my family.
Where do I start....
Views: Stunning. Truly breathtaking!
Location: the hotel is located on a hill overlooking the town of Chania, a ten minute drive in (with traffic) and a 30-40 minute walk. The advantage with the hotel is that they offer a free, yes free (!), shuttle bus 1/2 hourly from 10.30-midnight. We used this every day and the service was superb, it drops you by the market in the town centre, at the drop off point there is a button which calls the hotel if you need to get an earlier/later pick up. George gave us a really informative first bus ride into town to show us the local area, much appreciated. Felt really looked after.
There is car parking (again free) at the hotel if you decided to hire a car.
Rooms: we had a sea view room with a balcony and it was perfect. Bathroom was fairly small but the shower was great (hot shower). Aircon in the room. TV. Tea and coffee facilities, free bottled water daily. Fridge. Bed was comfy, the pillows were a little on the hard side (probably me being picky!)
Food: we didn't have breakfast included but did decided to use the breakfast option for 10euro per person on the last morning. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Great fresh orange juice, coffee machine, cooked options as well as cold, and pastries etc. Try the cinnamon rings! There is a cafe near the supermarket which we stopped at, five minutes walk down the road. We did have one lunch and one dinner at the hotel and it truly is great value for money (especially compared to some restaurants in town). As other comments have stated the portion sizes are really generous. Pizzas are great value for money.
Pool is perfect for the sunny weather. Lots of sun loungers and a stunning view over Chania. Just like the photos!
Housekeeping was amazing. Rooms were cleaned to a very high standard every day during our stay.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Especially to our daughter (22 months) who got treated with chocolate biscuits!
Thanks to all the staff who made our trip memorable.
Definitely would return and will recommend to family and friends.
Book quickly to avoid disappointment for the summer months.
I was made aware that the hotel is fully booked for most dates throughout the summer.

Room Tip: Balcony/sea view room is worth it!

Went with friends for New Year. We booked a superior room with a wonderful view overlooking Chania town and the sea. We were made very welcome by the staff. A special mention to Maria who looks after the Bar/Restaurant. We had lunch/dinner and breakfast. All superb and reasonably priced. Everywhere in the Hotel is spotlessly clean. I agree with previous comments that it deserves 4 star. We are hoping to go back in February for a birthday celebration. One drawback for my husband is that we didn't have real butter at breakfast. Maybe the lovely Maria can fix that.

Room Tip: Rooms very well soundproofed.

The woman that works in the restaurant has the worst customer service I've ever received. A lot of people from base eat there because of how amazing the food is. But each experience is frustrating and we are treated with disrespect by this woman. Our groups are generally 3-8 people. and each time, we pay separately. apparently this is the worst crime in the world. she has refused to allow us to pay with credit cards but allowed greek customers to pay with card and has even required people to go into town to find an ATM and bring back cash to pay.

Room Tip: bring cash to pay for food and never ask for separate checks.

We stayed in royal sun for one night on th 26th of December and we loved it. We booked a room without view but it had a nice small balcony. The room was modern with a/c, flat screen, fridge, telephone. We had clean towels and the room was very clean and our maid Cleopatra was very sweet. The restaurant had decent dinner and breakfast and amazing view. Royal, our waitresses was very friendly and the rest of the staff was helpful as well. Our only problem was the key card for the room that wasn't always working.

Overall we had a great time and I recommend this hotel for winter vacation.

This was our 4th stay here at this hotel and our second in two months !!! It is blissful. The staff make it truly amazing. The mini bus service into and back from town is brilliant . George, one of the drivers, is so informative. Loads of helpful
Suggestions of things to see and places to visit .. What can I say about Christos and Roula!!!! ?? They MADE our holiday perfect! As did all the others who work here tirelessly to ensure your stay is a great one. Mr Manolis , one of the owners ,(with his brother who is also the 1st class chef) is very unassuming will have a nice chat with you . Always willing to listen to his guests. We love Crete and this love is even deeper due to this true gemstone that is the Royal Sun Hotel
