Description: The Well of the Turk restaurant and bar offers a delicious selection of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern specialties, to be enjoyed to the sounds of a great collection of Middle Eastern music. Set in a historical building in the center of the Turkish district of Splantzia, with its labyrinth of narrow streets and two remaining minarets, one will find The Well of the Turk restaurant at Rouga Square, across the unique 13th century underground church of Agia Irene.

Ate here on Monday and had two starters - meatballs that came with Arabic bread that were lovely and full of flavour and chicken cigars that were chicken almonds and saffron in filo pastry that sadly were tasteless. Then we had the Turkish pizza that whilst was tasty was lukewarm and the pizza bread was actually a flour tortilla. My husbands slow cooked lamb was full of bone and sinew and had no sauce so was very dry with the cous cous. Service was ok but sitting in the garden area meant we got severely bitten by the mozis. Sadly this meal didn’t live up to our expectations and has been one of the more expensive ones of our holiday - it wasn’t awful but we wouldn’t return.

We ate in a gorgeous courtyard last night. Food was excellent and service attentive without being too fussy. Great range of veggie and meat dishes. Highly recommended.

We visited this restaurant early evening as a couple, before the restaurant was busy and had the most fabulous meal, so we decided to go back another evening as a family.
The food was again lovely, but this time it was so busy that service was difficult to find (the waiters are polite, but were serving too many tables).. We could see the dishes waiting to go out to the tables, we could see people being led to tables as soon as they were free, yet the kitchen and service was struggling to keep up with the customers already waiting for their meals.
Some of our food was served tepid and late which did spoil it a bit. Having said that, we would return, but would aim to eat early as the experience was so much better when the restaurant was less busy. The location and atmosphere is great.

The well of the Turk
Chania

Nice courtyard setting in the Old Town of Chania.
Friendly staff & wonderful service as the waitress took our orders.
The meals we ordered were delicious.
More Turkish than Greek & it was a good choice.
Thanks to good reviews on trip advisor so it’s a great restaurant to have a nice meal.
You won’t be disappointed.
Meals were reasonably priced.

We dined here 3 times on our 10 day trip to Chania. The courtyard location is stunning, the service is excellent and the food was divine. Highlights were the hummus, chickpea and potato cakes, Arab flatbread, and shish kebab. The baklava was a taste sensation and the free fruit and raki were a lovely addition. Well worth a visit... or 3!
