We were staying a few nights just round the corner from this place and decided to eat there one night, as it was handy and we expected it to be cheaper than the waterfront tavernas.
In late December we were the only customers and were made very welcome. Essentially our experience was exactly like Sean's in the previous review. We were given a menu but immediately the specials were recommended. The lamb in foil was just as Sean described. I opted for chicken but was then told it was not available after all and pork with three cheeses was suggested. I went for this. Plus we had tsatsiki and a pretty meagre Greek salad.
We asked for a half kilo of house wine and heard a bottle being uncorked. At the end of the meal we were offered wine or ouzo on the house.
When the bill arrived we were horrified to see a total of 61.40 euros, twice what we had been paying in better locations than this. The food was OK, but nothing special. We have often eaten better in Greece for much less.
We challenged the waiter and a vigorous debate followed. However, he would not back down and we ended up emptying our wallets to find enough cash, as of course he would not take payment by card.
The following afternoon we walked past the taverna on our way back to our accommodation. The waiter was sitting outside (as usual) but very quickly disappeared inside when he saw us.
Please heed these warnings and do not use this place. There was many better and more decent ones around the old town.
