We stayed at this hotel about 2 weeks ago at the end of March for 1 night before a flight to Santorini. We decided to take the metro from the airport and it was easy to find although the neighbourhood appeared a bit sketchy but still safe nevertheless. The neighbourhood appears to be a new immigrant part of the city and lower on the socioeconomic scale. So we were surprised to see such a fancy yet cozy hotel nuzzled in the middle of it! Front desk service was consistent and high quality, such a friendly staff! The room was standard, clean and comfortable with a little balcony. Thank goodness the staff explained to us how to use the heater because we needed overnight.

Service: I actually got an eye infection when I got to the hotel and the staff downstairs were super helpful in arranging a taxi to take us to the closest pharmacy, wait, and then bring us back. My infection improved overnight because of their prompt service.

Location: This is my only caveat with this place. The closest attraction is the national archaeological museum (which is a MUST SEE), but otherwise you will have to take the metro to the acropolis, plaka and other sites. The metro stop is just under 8 minutes away and this hotel is at the edge of downtown Athens. Transfer to airport was 40 euros and took us 25 minutes in the morning, but can take up to 40 minutes during traffic.

Overall we enjoyed this hotel and the service and would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget high quality place to stay!

Chose this hotel due to its reviews on here and was not disappointed. Lovely little hotel with very friendly service. Booked a suite and although it's really a large room it's extremely comfortable. Lovely large and comfy bed and the bonus of a spa bath! No restaurant on site but they will bring snacks and breakfast to your room, small bar too or they bring drinks up to you. It isn't in a great area but as we like to see the "real" side of a country we visit this didn't bother us and it's only a short walk to the metro which is only a couple of stops into town. Very good value for money indeed.

Despite the positive comments here, I have experienced the opposite! Mind you, I'm commenting for the first time because I want to warn you all about my unpleasant stay there.

At first, we were quite satisfied with the room and service there. However, on our third day, the AC broken down. As it was in the middle of summer, my friends and I were having troubling sleeping, so we called the reception. They sent a staff, who speaks limited English, to check on the AC, and didn't explained much before she left. After a while, we decided to go down to the reception to check on the situation ourselves. He told us politely he couldn't do anything at all.

In the morning, we visited the reception again, hoping that we can get another room or borrow a fan. The receptionist told us very rudely that there's nothing they can do, and if we didn't like their service, we should find another hotel!! We were extremely shocked - What kind of attitude is that?!

Since we already paid for the stay, we remained there for one more day as it was also our last day. When we checked out with that rude receptionist, she didn't tell us that it was the first day of the strike, and all the public transportation shut down and some flights were delayed!!

Is the 2nd time in Athens. Again at Centrotel. If You want above average rooms and service, for below average rates. This is the place.
Its 2 subway station (and 5 blocks) away from the tourist zone. But leaving that aside, I strongly recomend stayin here, and taking the metro and walking the 5 blocks.
