The hotel is in a good location within the city center. The hotel is a pure luxury as with Luxury Collection standards (excluding the other property Arion resort in Greece, which is more of a 3 star hotel with 5 star prices). The reception team are wonderful, the concierge is helpful, the butler was professional, and in general all were courteous. If I plan to visit Athens again, this will be my hotel without a doubt.

Lobby: Nice luxurious reception area, beautiful interior design.
Check in: at reception only as there is no executive lounge. A butler has taken us to the room and took care of everything we had.
Guest room (Deluxe suite): spacious for Europe standards. luxurious interior, luxurious classic design furniture, and very comfortable. Actually had one of the nicest suites I have stayed in Europe.
Bathroom: fully marble, reasonable size, although shower area was squished slightly.
Executive lounge: n/a
Breakfast: was served in the restaurant on the top floor had a wonderful view of the city and the acropolis from a distance. Large variety of food, and nice atmosphere.
Concierge: friendly and knowledgable. If you have a suite, you will be assigned a butler. Ours was very professional, courteous, and helpful.
Location: Very good location in the city center
Facilities:
- piano lounge: beautiful area near the lobby, good music, and desserts/drinks. We enjoyed our time there
- top floor restaurant: is the same area for the breakfast. It's a michalin recommended restaurant. The food is really good, and so is the atmosphere.
- SPA: once again, luxurious and good option of facilities in there. It's a must to visit.

The property is ideally located in the center of Athens on Syntagma Square, and across from the cities Parliament building and within walking distance to many attractions including the National Gardens and the Old Pláka district.

The hotel is stunning. The lobby is pillared above marble and custom carpeted floors, and furnished in beautiful antiques. The opulent décor continues into the tranquil oasis in the heart of the Winter Garden Restaurant where I had the second best spaghetti Carbonara I have ever eaten (The best was in Rome). The entire staff is elegantly uniformed and quick to see to ones needs.

Gorgeous stained glass enhances the atrium ceiling providing natural light, graceful columns accentuate the room’s height, and the intricate marble floor has handsome detailing. The opulence of the setting is offset by a palette of creams and gold.

The hotel corridors are no less well designed, as are the accommodations. My room was ornately furnished with two bedside tables, wall sconces, a desk, a plasma television enclosed in an antique chest with a refrigerator. A great deal of closet space is offered, one with a self-programmable safe.

Guest room
Gorgeous mahogany doors led to a large black and cream marble bath with deep tub and walk in shower. A lighted make up mirror is attached to the wall near the sink, and a hair dryer and towel rack with large soft towels are offered. Amenities are Gilchrist & Soames of London, and include shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, bath gel, sewing kit and shower cap.

Bath room
On the hotels top floor is the GB Roof Garden Restaurant. The view from the GB Roof Garden Restaurant and bar is breathtaking, where many tables have uninterrupted views of the Acropolis. They fill up quickly, so reservations are recommended, as the Roof Garden is a favorite with hotel guests and Athenians alike.

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies, others not.

We stayed at the hotel for a long weekend in August. Without a doubt, one of the best hotels we have ever visited. The hotel allows you to enjoy the decadent luxuries of a by-gone era with its historic decor, whilst affording guests the best views that Athens has to offer. The out door pool gave a welcome respite after a long, hot day sight-seeing in the city, with quality snacks available from the bar. Later on, dinner in the roof-top restaurant was elevated to a magical experience by the incredible views of the flood lit Acropolis, but it was the food that quickly became the real star. Both food and service were comparable to a Michelin starred restaurant. Facilities such as the indoor pool and spa are the cherry on the cake - you don't think you need them on a city break until you've walked around ancient ruins in forty degrees plus for most of the day, but what a tonic they were!

This is a wonderful city, with an amazing history and lovely people, and it is so sad to see them suffering through troubled times, but this hotel has been and will, no doubt remain, the best place to stay when visiting Athens.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor (concierge floors)

We had a fabulous experience staying at his hotel early October 2012. You could not ask for more - the service from he moment the taxi drew up when we arrived to the time we left. The room was luxury, the roof top pool and bar fabulous and the view of the Acropolis when eating breakfast or an evening meal breathtaking. The thermal spa was just gorgeous! Could not recommend highly enough.
