My wife, two friends and I stayed here for one night 2 weeks ago on our first leg of our Camino from Porto to Santiagod de Compostella. We were walking the coastal route (Senda Littoral) and had walked from Matosinhos to Mindelo along the coastal boardwalk, and turned inland at Mindhelo to walk to the Quinta. Having walked about half-way, the temperature soared up to 35 degrees (no sea breeze once we were inland), so I called the proprietor (Teresa) who had kindly offered to come pick us all up in her car. She arrived after a few minutes and we completed the journey to her place in her estate car.
The Quinta is set in extensive grounds with mature gardens and inviting swimming pool (just what the weather called for!).
Our rooms were in a building separate from the main house. Wifi was available in the main house and on the veranda surrounding it. Teresa had offered to prepare our evening meal for a small additional charge and we were happy to accept that offer (3 course for Euro 20 pp), although some rooms come with a kitchen and tea/coffee facilities for those who want to self-cater.
A washing line was available in the garden to air & dry clothes (essential for smalls for Peregrinos!).
We enjoyed a game of 8-ball pool in the main house along with drinks ahead of dinner. Teresa was able to offer us a very good wine to accompany dinner on the veranda, which comprised of clams in garlic butter as starter, Bacalhau (cod) with potatoes for main course and the most delicious fresh raspberries & ice cream to finish.
We enjoyed two bottles of Douro Valley Vila Real wine with our meal and coffees to finish. A thoroughly delicious meal accompanied with great conversation with our host!
Following a very quiet nights sleep, we breakfasted in the dining room on fresh bread rolls and croissants, along with fruits, juices, cheese & ham, before Teresa kindly dropped us back on our walking route.
This is an excellent place to stay for those on the Camino and also for anyone in the area who wants to "get away from it all". A very relaxing place in beautiful surroundings!

Room Tip: I think probably all rooms are good, but some have a kitchen attached

Delightful location in a small rural town. The main house is mansion-like and Teresa is cultured and attentive (beer magically found its way to me on the veranda). The grounds are extraordinary and there is a friendly dog. We had to go into town to get dinner, which was a bit of a walk (not a lot of options) but the breakfast on the next morning was perfect in every way. As the room we were in was embedded into a rock wall, we found it a bit damp and ran a heater to remove the dampness, but aside from this minor annoyance it was fabulous.

Room Tip: Upper apartment may feel a little less damp?

Two days before arrival, Teresa emailed to say that she only accepted cash or bank transfers - no credit cards.
This may be OK for visitors from the Euro zone, but is unhelpful for those of us using other currencies.
So half a day of holiday became an exercise in late booking elsewhere.

This house is built in the colonial style of Brazil and has extensive grounds. With rooms in both the main house and individual apartments it can accommodate any style and number of guests from single travelers to extensive families. The grounds are beautiful with an outside pool and large walled promenades.

Centrally located by car you can travel to the Douro valley, the coast, or Porto easily. There is even a metro stop close by if you prefer to travel by transit. The host is very personable and made sure I had everything I needed. This Quinta is especially suitable for families as the independent apartments on the grounds allow for privacy.

Room Tip: They are all wonderful!

We, (2 Canadian/South African/French couples), spent 4 nights in 2 comfortable, tastefully decorated apartments, one with a kitchenette, sufficiently equipped for preparing snacks or light meals.
Meals were professionally prepared and served by Teresa in her beautiful, atmospheric dining room, reminiscent of colonial high life.
The house, apartments and swimming pool are set in a beautiful garden allowing for lovely meandering or reading in an easy chair.
Altogether a good base from where to reach Porto, the Douro valley and several other destinations of special interest (recommended by Teresa!) on the coast as well as inland.
The breakfasts were varied and copious and included in the rental price, the 3 course dinners tasty, but a little overpriced at €20 pp without wine.
We enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend this Quinta …
