obviously, most tourists come to Sao Bento to see the beautiful tile work, but more importantly, for me, was finding a place to exchange dollars to euros. None of the banks in Porto would exchange money unless one had an account there. The currency exchange office inside the Sao Bento rail station not only would cheerfully exchange money, but they did not have a commission charge. Even the proprietor of our hotel did not know this. Fortunately, one of the banks that could not exchange my money, recommended Sao Bento.

This railway station is worth a visit even if you are not going anywhere by train. All the walls are coverred with beautiful traditional blue tiles which are part of the history.

A must see when you are in Porto. The walls are beautiful and are part of this historic city. It is more like a gallery than a train station
