First, this is a superbly located hotel. Easy walk to everything. Staff is very busy most of the time, but they work hard and do their best. Multiple languages spoken!
Now, on the hard part. Very expensive small room. Good views up and down the Douro River, but a bit noisy as this is a major thoroughfare out of town.
Lousy value, as room was tiny, breakfast was 15euro each (overpriced!), parking 15euro per day, and 15euro cognac! Most expensive drinks we tried in our tour of the country!
And a final note... we think this hotel is HAUNTED. we both had some vicous and vivid nightmares and believe this hotel was built on the site of something awful.
The lobby is on the street level. Don't take your bags up to the "apparant" lobby entrance on the second floor.

Room Tip: get the highest room possible if you're on the riverside

When I first arrived I was surprised that this hotel was built against a slope. And I was even more surprised when I saw the rooms. Each room I believed was similar to a small one room apartment. There was a small kitchenette and living room. The bedroom was separated by a sliding door. The amenities were very clean and very modern.
The staffs were very friendly. Service was 5 stars! Our room had the view of the canal and was awesome to look out into the canal especially during sunset. We could see the monastery from our room.
If you are coming to Porto do choose this hotel for its location as it’s a little away from the busy centre and the view of the canal is amazing.

We were diverted to this hotel from another of the Eurostars properties. We got an 'upgrade' to an apartment. It was very comfortable and roomy - a little removed from the rest of the hotel. Overall everything was fine. The bar and restaurant during the evening seemed to get overwhelmed so you need some patience. The view over the Douro is great and the little local cafes were really good. Access to the funicular and bus is excellent (the funicular was out of action when we stayed but the bus was super convenient). Porto is a great town.

The Eurostars Porto Douro fills the bill for us. It's clean, rooms are large and comfortable and it's located down the Avenida Gustavo Eiffel about a 10- minute walk along the river from the hustle and bustle of the very touristy Ribadouro area. The rooms come equipped with a microwave, coffee maker and electric tea kettle plus a mini fridge. This is such a welcome when you're traveling for a long time and just want to enjoy a cup of tea or snack in your room at the end of a busy day without dealing with room service. The breakfast buffet is expansive and has plenty to choose from including cheeses, hams, fruits, cereals, breads, desserts--whatever you would want really, and there are machines to make your own cappuccino or espresso drinks. There is a bar in the hotel for drinks and snacks. There's not a full-service restaurant but there are so many places nearby, it doesn't matter. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Ask for a room in the front of the hotel and enjoy the beautiful views over the river and down towards the Eiffel bridge. It's a perfect place to stay in Porto!

Room Tip: Get a room at the front of the hotel for great views over the river.
