This hotel is ideally placed to visit Funchal, an easy walk into town, a bit slower back uphill, but there is a shuttle bus provided by the hotel, (need to book this). The views over Funchal are spectacular, particularly at night. We chose a mountain view room at the back to avoid road noise. It was fine, very clean, but the balcony was quite small. Tea and coffee and a fridge are provided.
Food is very good, well presented, but needed a few more choices of main courses for vegetarians, themed nights were interesting.
We found the lifts very slow, not easy to work out where they were going, recommend using the stairs if you can find them!
Both pools are large and very clean, indoor has a jacuzzi and other water features, but have never had to pay 5 euros per day to use an indoor pool at any hotel before.
The bar is a very large room with lots of seating but very little atmosphere. The nightly entertainment is quite poor and very similar each time. The pool bar/café is light and bright.
My biggest issue was the entrance to the hotel, very underwhelming from the front, not obvious which is the actual front door. Once inside its like entering a club or disco, the décor has been done to reflect the volcanic geography of Madeira so its dark brown and black with large columns of neon orange lights, black floor and black and orange rugs, all very dark and gloomy! There are sofas and chairs but there is no way I could have sat to read a book as there is very little natural light here. On the whole a very good hotel and well positioned.

Room tip: Quieter rooms at the back but with a smaller balcony.

The hotel is well positioned for exploring the centre of Funchal. There is an uphill climb to the hotel, but if you use the back streets rather than the main road this is not a problem. Facilities are good and hotel very clean. We stayed in 2 of the self catering rooms. Were pleasantly surprised to find they were interconnectig.

We arrived at this hotel at lunch time, the check in went very well the hotel room was very nice only down side the shower cubicle is on the small side, but bathroom was a good size.
In the bedroom area there was a fridge and a kettle with tea & coffee which was refilled every day.
The beds were very comfortable.
The room was cleaned every day and made up.
The view was from the balcony was not to bad mountain view.
The hotel was on half board plus which included drinks with our meal.
The food was very good lots of choices.
Breakfast was good, fried eggs are rubbery was the only down side, lots of cold meats, fresh fruit, nice breads, pastries, bacon was very good.
The evening meal was very good lots of choice meats & fish salad, bread, dessert very good.
The drinks were local only, plus soft drinks.
We will be going back.

An amazing hotel with incredible view. Unbeatable. You can see the beautiful Funchal landscape either from the rooms or from the pool outside. The hotel staff is really kind and always help you in a good way. We lived here for a week and only one person was rude and his name was Castro (One day when I wanted to give my room card to the reception since I was going to a dolphin safari and didn’t wanted to loose it, he was rude and pushed the card back to me and said: it’s better if you have it.. but another guy helped me just a second later. He should learn from all the others, they are doing a great job.
The hotel have a pool outside with a lot of sun chairs but they do even have a pool inside at the spa and jacuzzi which is really nice. In the pool inside you have 3-4 different buttons to press on in order to get some relaxing water bubbles and other stuff which is nice. You also have sauna and steam sauna which is perfect since there is a cold shower just outside which makes it a great mix and then relax on the comfortable beds. You can also enjoy a great massage, manicure or a mud cleansing. The massage was really good (I recommend it), they had like an offer at that time, we paid 48€ for 55min of massage including back and feet brush with raspberry seeds. I also tried the manicure and it was nice, 55min for 15€. After the massage they also have a relax room where you can chill and relax and have some tee and light up a candle, really cozy.
We had breakfast and dinner included in our package and the breakfast was good everyday but the dinner was different from day to day. One day the dinner got 4/10 points and another day 10/10 and the third day 6/10 which gives the food in general 8/10 so I’m happy overall.
The price for the spa is 5€/day per person and so is the gym which I feel is weird but we are not talking about a 100 dollars so it’s pretty ok, just add the price for gym/spa to your total price for the hotel and everything is all good, an idea is to include that in the total cost but not necessary. The hotel is overall very clean and you get a bottle of water everyday after they clean your room. It’s located really close to La Vie shopping mall which is open 10-22 everyday and you can get there by foot maybe 10min not more. You can also take a taxi and they usually take between 5-10€ if you are really lazy, haha :) I will definitely come back to this hotel since it has everything you need.
One thing they could do better is the menu for the drinks and food close to the pool since it’s hard to see the text and you have to press in a certain area in order to see what they have to offer, it’s not a big deal but just a small adjustment. The first day you’ll get one orange towel per person and you’ll keep it during the whole vacation so you can use it in the pool area or at the spa. Except if you choose a treatment, the spa area will borrow you a towel so you don’t have to bring yours.
The price for a typical drink like Mojito beside the pool is 6€ and make sure you try all of the flavors, they are really good since they have, mojito with strawberry, kiwi, mango, pineapple, coconut.
The WiFi is impressive to be honest, they have a flat screen on the room but I never used it.
Make sure you take a day to visit the shopping mall called Forum Madeira which is approximately 10min from the hotel and it’s definitely worth visiting, 8-10€ with taxi. If you are in need of a ATM, no worries you have it at the entrance of the hotel, just beside the reception which is really good but we learned that it’s better if you choose one of the other ATM which is between 10min from the hotel since they charge you less than the one at the hotel.
They even have a smokers-room located in the same floor as the reception which is really cool and I’ve never seen one of those in a hotel. One thing you don’t wanna miss is the wonderful sofas they have in front of the reception. The last day I was planning to steal one of those and take it with me to Sweden haha jk but for real they are really nice. 5/5 ⭐️ for this hotel.

My second visit to Madeira and to The Four Views Baía.
Super the first time in 2016 and once again excellent, now in September 2018.
Cleanliness, Friendliness, comfortable spacious suites, breathtaking views, and kind multilingual staff.
The entire family loved this hotel and are already recommending it to friends and family.
The hotel offers also a free shuttle bus ride down to Funchal which stops near the CR7 museum. Ensure to list yourselves in advance. Nevertheless taxis are widely available.
A special thanks for making our visit a memorable one goes to Sergio, Cecilia and Lídia for their outstanding service and attention.
