“Comfortable, Modern Apartment with Wonderful Views”
Reviewed 31 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed for 5 nights in mid-August. Michael was away on our day of arrival, but we were greeted by his partner, who did a great job showing us around the apartment and even gifted us with a bottle of wine for our first evening.

The apartment is extremely well finished in a very modern way with some beautifully thought-out features such as the lighting in the bedroom and balcony area. The kitchen is very well equipped with all you need on a holiday. There is no oven, but there is a washing machine which is very useful for a longer stay. Ice cubes ready in the freezer on our arrival were particularly appreciated!

The balcony seating area is cool on a hot day and is a perfect place to take in the views during the day and the stunning Funchal lights in the evening or enjoy a meal.

The bathroom is well equipped and the bedroom very comfortable.

The only potential downsides to this apartment are the very steep walk down to and up from the town and the steep spiral staircase up to the apartment from the garden, which might be a problem for someone with difficulty walking.

Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely recommend this property and would visit again!

Many thanks for your thoughtful and thorough review, unfortunately we cannot do much about the steep walk up to and down from the apartment but have already taken note about the lack of an oven and currently looking into having a combination microwave and convection oven to replace the simple microwave. I do not think yet another electrical appliance in the kitchen would be a good idea due to loss of work surface space. Once again many thanks for taking the trouble to submit a review and pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and on Madeira

“Fabulous”

From the start of our booking til the end of our holiday Michael the owner of the property was great. He responded and confirmed our booking within 10 minutes so therefore I could go ahead with booking our flights so our holiday to the beautiful Island of Madeira was booked within half an hour. We had a welcome pack on arrival, milk, cheese, butter, fresh juice, bread, coffee cereals & a lovely bottle of wine, all the above we could choose for example white, brown, sliced or unsliced bread, full fat, semi or skimmed milk. This we thought was a really lovely touch. Michael offered to pick us up from the airport but we hired a car so he sent us extremely good directions to the apartment. On arrival we were shown around the fab accommodation and had a welcome glass of wine. Firstly lovely and clean. We loved everything about the apartment especially the enormous covered terrace which we sat and had our morning coffee ( great coffee machine that steams milk by the way) sat at most evenings with a few glasses of wine overlooking Funchal and the sea, the view is beautiful. We ate in most nights as the modern kitchen has everything needed to cater for our 10 night stay, including a washing machine,we also made use of the bbq. The bedroom leads off the kitchen diner which has a comfy double bed, great television with loads of channels to watch. The bathroom, beautifully designed has a great shower. There is a small balcony off the bedroom which gets the sun nearly all day so any sun worshippers like me will love. As stated by others you access the apartment through your own gate then up the steep spiral staircase which you get used to very quickly, we're in our 50's and had no problem at all. This was our second visit to Madeira, the first time we stayed we were a good 20 minute walk away from Funchal centre so decided we wanted to be closer this time. The apartment is in a nice area with shops nearby for essentials, there's a big supermarket a little further away which sells everything. We had a lovely walk into the centre one day which took about 10 minutes. We visited some beautiful places,Ponta Do Sol twice as this is apparently the sunniest on the west coast, only about 15 minutes by car from Funchal, Porto Moniz which is definitely worth a visit. As stated we had a car for the whole of our holiday so were able to visit some of the many reccomended places easily. We really didn't want our holiday to end Madeira is beautiful. From start to finish Michael made our holiday even more special, there if we needed anything but never intrusive so thank you Michael we can't wait to return.

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay”
Reviewed 8 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We stayed in Michaels apartment for a week. We were given bread, milk, jam, butter, wine, fruit, tea, coffee, sugar and cereals on our arrival which was a lovely gesture and also helped us with the essentials for the week. The apartment was really nice and stylish, great shower, felt like we were staying in a local area not full of tourists. Amazing views of the surrounding areas from the outdoor living room and balcony! Located up a steep hill and spiral staircase to the apartment, which we managed ok. Supermarkets close by and funchal town 5-10 min walk away. Michael was the perfect host, respecting our space yet always available to help with advice and guidance on the local area.

“Lovely week in Funchal”
Reviewed 23 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The apartment is up quite a steep hill, fine for us, and not far from 2 small supermarkets, with all you need, and from the centre of Funchal itself. The apartment was clean and very well equipped including kitchen utensils, crockery etc, a beautiful bowl of fruit, tea, coffee, wine and other essentials. Fabulous big covered verandah with a wide view over the town, sea and mountains. Perfect for sipping a glass of wine and admiring the view after a day's sightseeing! The owner picked us up from the airport which was really helpful. We did a tour of the east of the island, which was excellent and included lunch, went up the cabelcar to the Botanical Gardens - superb - and took the bus to Palheiros gardens. The hop-on hop-off bus was also well worth it, taking us to a great viewpoint above the town and along the coast to Camara de Lobos. Lots to see in Funchal itself. Will have to come back to do some of the levada walks. An excellent apartment, finally, and one which I would have no hesitation in recommending.
