“Dramatic Fado”
Reviewed 3 April 2013

With fado is like this either you love it or you hate it...... this us a family run place as per Portoguese tradition. The food was good, taste and home made...... but you come here for the music. It has been a wonderful night between a note of Fado and a glass of Madeira...... they have an impressive singer and the boy who play the portoguese guitar is just great! Do not leave Funchal without a visit to Sabor a Fado.

“A fado family restaurant still quiet unspoiled by tourism”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

A very cosy place to listen to fado. The place is very small and is run by a family: they prepare food, serve and while they serve you, they sing!!! No micros, nothing! 2 guitars, one classical and one fado guitar. The advantage of this place is its simplicity, plus the fact that it is purely family run, that they are really good singers, especially Sofia and Alexandra (they are 5 in all). Go there, if you are the kind of person who prefers to avoid the typically tourist places! You will not regret it. Minimum 5 euros for a drink.

“Fado with food”
Reviewed 10 March 2013

Fantastic Fado music in this small restaurant! Skilled musicians and singers and waiters acting from everywhere in the room. To be recommended! Food was average, but OK. The bill was handsome, however also handmade.

“Atmospheric and Intimate Fado Restaurant.”
Reviewed 31 January 2013

I cant remember the food but I can remember the tremendous atmosphere generated by this family run restaurant. We were made to feel very much part of the entertainment and will certainly return when we revisit the lovely island of Madeira

“Fantastic atmosphere and delicous Madeirain food”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

Superb family-run restaurant. Typical local food in fabulous atmosphere. Good wines.
And of course, the Fado singers were absolutely outstanding.
We were here on the New Year Eve. And were much impressed. Everybody in this restaurant sings fado: waiters, barmen, manager, cook and even the host of the restaurant.
