Description: Midori, the oldest Japanese restaurant in the country, has been totally reinvented and redesigned. In the new Midori, the sophisticated decoration in light gray provides a splendid luminosity to the space, in contrast with the magnificent view of the Sintra Mountains and the exquisite and intimate ambience.

Great option for Saturday evening with buffet choices done very well. Asian fusion menu is new for other days of the week and relatively short on eg Indian more Thai and Japanese

On our recent visit to Midori (Good Friday holiday) we had no option but to experience the buffet because that's what they had on that day. Unfortunately, either our expectations were too high or the restaurant needs to reevaluate their price/quality ratio. The buffet is 58€ per person (no drinks included) and it's all you can eat. However, sashimis are brought on request and they take quite a long time to come. There was a good amount of food choices but nothing any different than what you would find at a regular Japanese buffet in Lisbon. The meat at the hibachi wasn't the best quality either. And the dessert buffet was the biggest letdown: the desserts were too sweet and basically all tasted the same. Nothing unique at all about them.
Service was pretty good and the atmosphere is nice but the price/quality ratio just doesn't make sense. Our bill turned out to be almost 300€ for 4 people (we didn't order any wine or alcoholic beverages) and we left feeling as if we had just eaten at a Japanese buffet that would cost probably half the price, if not less.
It is unfortunate that this restaurant, one of the oldest Japanese ones in Portugal and located in a 5* resort, has such overpriced food for the quality it offers. We're definitely not going back.

Near Lagoa Azul we find a dream hotel "Penha Longa" with one of the best Sushi restaurants in Portugal.
Inserted in a magical place, the restaurant Midori exceds all expectations throughout the the quality of its food and service.
We went to dinner on a Saturday and the Buffet is simply fabulous. The restuarante has a very good wine cellar even though the prices are a bit out of context.
The service provided by a very young staff adds value to a fantastic evening.

This restaurant is an experience. The interior is clean and elegant without being to extravagant. The staff is top notch, in fact I never experiences better. The perfect balance between service and staying in the background. The waiter, unfortunately I forgot his name, kept having the chef prepare different small dishes which he thought, after finding out what we like, we would enjoy. And we did, immensely. Overall a fantastic experience and hands down the best restaurant experience I ever had.
