We had a wonderful stay at Casa Joaquina. The house is very comfortable and stayed cool during the hot summer days. It was a great location - just a few minutes away from Rossio and we walked everywhere from the castle to the zoological gardens (we took a bus to the oceanarium). The neighbourhood is local rather than touristy and we enjoyed shopping at the local grocery store and eating out locally. Austin was really generous with her time and gave us lots of recommendations, so we hit the ground running. The house is extremely well-provisioned, which makes you feel very welcome-- from the breakfast to the bottle of wine in the fridge. There is no view but a pleasant, breezy rooftop terrace, where we sat out to eat breakfast and dinner. The boys made good use of the pool table in the heat of the afternoon and there are plenty of books to suit all tastes. So much fun!

Superb location nestled high in one of the 7 hills of Lisbon. Walking distance to everything that mattered, restaurants, promenade, sights, fado bars and other nightlife. Nice feel of established families in the locality and not a "touristic experience" although this was but a few minutes walk away.
Welcome provisions to get us started was a nice and unexpected surprise. All amenities of acceptable / good standard. Only proviso is that we booked for a family of 5 (Parents and three teenagers, 2 boys and a girl) and the house had a 2 double beds and a single. The boys would not share so one ended up sleeping on the couch for the stay. Slightly irritating as if there had been two singles in the room it would have been more flexible and much better. That said, the couch experience was more than made up for (in my son's opinion) by all teh electronic gadgetary (wii, wifi, dvd etc.) available in the living room. Rooftop terrace was always breezy and a great place ot relax / eat, especially when hot inside, with views over Lisbon.
Will most definatley return if visiting Lisbon again.
Our family of four adults and two children loved our stay at Casa Joaquina. From the moment we were greeted by Austin to the time she bid us farewell we received first class service. The unit is perfect in so many ways--from the central location to the many restaurants nearby to the great amenities (including the basement pool and air hockey table for the kids), it was perfect for our needs. Thanks to Austin for a great place and all the support in getting settled in and getting to know Lisbon!
