“Perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2012

Slightly expensive, yes, but worth it - the location is really perfect and it's a very soothing, relaxed place to stay. We had a corner room with a balcony, very spacious, shower slightly tricky to operate but it's a minor quibble. More towels than in any hotel I've stayed in before. Brilliant views from the bathroom window as well as from the balcony. Breakfast is enormous and very good. On one day when we missed breakfast they brought a pot of coffee to our room within 5 minutes of asking. The rooftop bar was nice and definitely worth doing for an early evening drink, but later on you should definitely wander round the Bairro Alto streets and try out the little bars with their terrifyingly cheap sangria and caipirinhas.

The Bairro Alto hotel is in the perfect location for great food, entertainment and sight seeing. The beautiful terrace bar - with its sweeping views of the river - is an excellent way to wind down the day. The staff is tremendously friendly and accommodating. The rooms are on the small side but are clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. There is a great shop for Cork products just up the street, Cork&Co. and the famous gelato place, Santini's is also very close.

Bairro Alto is perfectly located high on the hill in old Lisbon. Less than 10€ and 20 minutes from the airport by taxi. Staff are outstandingly helpful and stylishly dressed. Our room up on the 4th floor was nicely furnished and double-glazed for a peaceful night's sleep. Turn-down staff were really nice and very attentive. Roof-top bar is a must and don't walk off if it's packed. Just get them to give you a call in your room when there's a space on the bench and from there you'll progress to a harbourside seat - fantastic views and vibe. Wifi is not free which really gets up my nose when you are paying these prices but the only negative. Breakfast is very good and very relaxed. Really enjoyed our two nights here and even though expensive it is really worth it. Tram 28, which is a tourist must, stops almost outside and the trip to the monastery and pastry shop in Belem on Tram 15 is well worth it, if you have time.

Location is perfect to explore the city. Decoration is modern and tasteful. Comfort is perfect. Service is incredibly friendly. This is the very rare city hotel in which a 3-day stay feels too short and where we can't recall a single thing that might have been better. (On second thoughts: free wifi would be a plus...)

This is a lovely 5star hotel that sits in the centre of Lisbon by the shopping areas, restaurants, bars and of easy access of the castle. The rooms are in the smaller side but service is really 5star. Rooftop bar is very cool but can be crowded. Top tip - Book online through broker rather than directly with the hotel to get a better rate.
