This museum is in the metro station Alto dos Moinhos. It is not big, but very nice! There is a vast amount of different, well ordered, instruments. Since it is free with the Lisboa card, I would definitly advise anyone to go there.

Situated in the Metro station this small but jam packed museum is very easy to find.

The staff made us feel very welcome and when we asked if there was an audio guide we were told there was one and that it contained sound recordings of some of the instruments. Although the spoken part of the guide was only in Portuguese and German, don't let that put you off. They also apologised for a party of school children being in the museum for a lesson on how music had been recorded over the years but this only added to the charm of the museum.

We had loads to time to walk around the collection and being able to hear recordings of some of the instruments was excellent and the range of instruments was impressive too.

This might not be the biggest musuem in Lisbon but it's well worth a visit if you have a couple of hours free or if the weather isn't too good.

Thank CalandDel

The museum is small in scale and tucked away under a bridge with entry from a Metro station but, oh, what a find. Exactly what i wanted to see displayed beautifully. The only suggestion i would make is that it would be good to hear sound samples of the playable exhibits. Well worth a visit if you are interested in the development of musical instruments.
