Yes....It is now a tourist trap ( no locals at all) but what an amazing night. Just loved every second of it. You walk in surprised and leave with goose bumps still. The only part is NOT clapping or sound until the end. That just killed me. I was sooooo into the singers and had to wait until I could show my admiration. A trip to Portiugal would not be the same without a night of Fado.

We went to A Tasca do Chico to listen to Fado music and weren't disappointed by that part of the evening (hence the 2 stars) We also met some lovely people there.
What we weren't impressed with was the service, food (basic and expensive) and drink (expensive) and the worst bit of the evening was, just as we were leaving finding debit cards weren't accepted, irrespective of the size of your bill.
We were marched off to the bank with a security guard to withdraw the 15 euros we needed to settle the bill. It wasn't even acceptable for one of us to stay in the bar whilst the other one went to the bank.
It is the only time in 5 weeks in Portugal that we weren't able to use a debit card, which really makes us wonder why this Bar was different.
We wouldnt recommend this place.

A Tasca do Chico was recommended by a local. It's a small Fado club that appears to be a favorite of locals. It's small and crowded. There's isn't a stage so the performers stand in the middle of the restaurant. When they perform, the doorman closes the doors so the singer won't be disturbed. Once inside, you'll be treated to a talented singer and musicians. And the locals mouth the words. It feels like this is what Fado used to be.

Came here for the fado music, it did not disappoint. We did not eat here, had couple glasses of wine which was not that great. But we came for the music and atmosphere and that was awesome.

This place might seem authentic and local, but it's a tourist trap. After reading positive reviews I thought we would check this place out. We ordered two glasses of wine and the waitress pour us two glasses of boxed wine. There was a group staging and getting ready to play Fado. It seemed they would keep you in suspense. Leading you to believe they will play soon which you continue to consume cheap boxed wine and didn't look like delicious food. Eventually, the restaurant staff will dim the lights and the group starts to play. The Fado at this venue was overrated. They group played three songs, ~10 minutes and the show was over. Unless you want to fall into a tourist trap, my advice, skip this place.
