The resort is situated in a narrow valley about ten minutes drive from Monchique. It is in fact a group of small hotels, spa, and function complex with a central reception area. The rooms are clean if tired, although the public areas are quite smart. One of our group tried the spa and reported that the staff were churlish, and the facilities were minimal. The restaurant has a reasonable menu, but could not be described as fine dining. A good centre for walking, with plenty of interesting trails, but not ideal for lounging about.

Room tip: View over the square is better, the other side has a road round the complex next to it

Location is amazing, didn't try the hotel... but the Spa is obsolete, old equipment, poor lockrooms, staff very unfriendly, not even a cup of tea (20 euro entrance) available, two tiny old saunas and dirty showers... too much chlorine in thermal water... worst-ever spa!

I've visited Villa Termal during the last weekend and I love it! It is a perfect place for a lazy weekend for people who like to be surrounded by nature and peacefulness. Moreover the water in the resort is amazing, the skin feels so soft after taking a bath and the SPA pool... I need to come back more often!

Room tip: Rooms at the Hotel D. Carlos have the best view

Nice hotel resort beautifully located, friendly staff, nice spa. Hotel rooms are decent standard.
Restaurant is not of the same high standard though - prices too high for the quality delivered, service not up to it either.
