We are just back from a wonderful holiday in Vila Marazul (July 2013). The villa is a very short walk down to a beautiful, big white Sandy beach called Porto Mos which is really safe for children and has two (beach attire friendly) restaurants overlooking it. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the grounds of the hotel were impeccably maintained. When we weren't on the beach we lounged at the hotel pool. The pool is slightly heated perfect for cooling off but not too cold. It's only let down is that its arc shape is not great for swimming lengths. All in all we would highly recommend Villa Marazul if you want a very relaxing, easy holiday. Oh, and I guess I should mention that we did rent a car which we used for the short trips into Lagos and to visit a local hilltop town and a local water park. You can, however, use taxis etc which are cheap and efficient.

Dont be put off by the basic pictures, this hotel is beautiful. Large, contemporary rooms, with absolutely everything you need. Nice balcony that gets the sun all day!
The staff do absolutely everything you want. The reception isnt based at Villa Marazul but ring on the phone or caller outside the front door and they'll ring the taxi, or come if neccessary. Did this to check in and they were with you within 10 minutes. Taxis arrived promptly and cost 4 euros to central lagos.

Nice pool. 5 Minutes walk tops to beautiful beach at Porto de Mos.

Well worth it!!

Myself and my partner stayed here back in September 2010.

We were nervous at first as this was our first holiday away together and it was all done online without seeing any photographs.

We turned up about 3am after a flight, didn't know whether we had the right place as it's so quiet and tucked away. Nobody there on arrival, we had to call someone on a door buzzer who then came down about 10 mins later from the sister hotel. This was a bit confusing but once he gave us the number for contacting throughout the holiday this was fine.

The room was a pleasant suprise. Huge bathroom, lovely kitchen and living area. Only problem was the beds were singles and they were incredibly hard. Walls were quite thin so could hear man snoring every night in the next room!

Town is about 30 min pleasant walk and taxi's are always available by ringing other hotel for a good price.

Dolphin trips etc all available down town and some beautiful restaurants.

A good find, I would love to go there again!

Maid cleans every day - THOROUGHLY. I have high standards and she met these. We were also given a gift as we departed.

Only bad thing about this holiday was the pool. We didn't go in it once as the water was FREEZING even in 28 deg heat and full of flies and bits of grass.

Well recommended holiday !

We arrived on the 3rd September at lunch time. Its advisable to go to the D'oiro hotel to check in (this is the sister hotel of the apartments) as there is no one at the Villa Marazul only the cleaning staff.
We had to wait until 2.30pm to be taken to our accomodation, but it was a pleasant surprise when we was upgraded to a one bedroom apartment,(very spacious, room 203) as I had only booked a studio. You cannot fault the place for cleanliness.
The pool is very nice, but a bit cold!!
There is still some work going on across the way, a new complex being built, sometimes a little noisy, but it did not cause major problems.
There is a beach down the road and a bus stop into Lagos, 1 euro each. The walk into Lagos is ok if you feel energetic, but if its really hot forget it. There are a few restaurants up the road, we went to the chinese a couple of times and it was delicious.
All in all it is a nice place if you require a chill out and a rest from the madding crowd!!

I hadn't stayed in self catering accommodation for some time and was a bit concerned about what we might get on arrival. We hadn't paid very much for the rooms and thought this might be reflected in the quality - happily it wasn't!
The rooms were clean, spacious and with everything we needed including toiletries in the bathroom. We hired beach/pool towels from the hotel which helped as it saved our luggage allowance!
In the heat, walking into town isn't much fun but reception called taxis for us each day at no charge and for a few euros it was worth it.
The pool had a couple of leaves in but nothing at all that would stop you going in and the rooms were spotless when we returned from the beach each day. There is a mini-market shop nearby and a gorgeous beach within easy walk.
It's very quiet at night and no noise comes through from neighbouring guests.
Me and the other girls cant wait to go back next year!
