“Delightful Cottage in wonderful setting”
Reviewed 19 July 2018 for a stay in July 2018

It is set with a few other apartments and properties on ‘Oakerthorpe Village’. The cottage is lovely and the ‘village’ is charming, intersting, and soothing. Very well equipped and stylish in what may be called a quirky or individualistic way. The cottage certainly has character. We immediately felt comfortable and got a boost from it. It has its own outside area where you can sit and relax, perhaps over a glass of something.

The village has some chickens and goats that add to the relaxing feel. It has an interesting playground, that my daughters loved. Even though they are 21 and 19.
The area around is very picturesque. The sunset over the valley makes you stop and watch. The scenery around is very attractive.

Some great pubs and restaurants nearby. Remember to take cash as the pubs don’t usually have card facilities.

It didn’t bother us much, but the mainline railway, runs close by and seems to have trains very early in the morning.

There are no large shops close, so perhaps pick something up on the way there,

In all a great area, village, and cottage. Highly recommended by all of us.

“A wonderful piece of England”
Reviewed 23 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We stayed here for a week this month and after looking for a hotel near Mansfield we settled on the Holiday Village. What a great surprise. The Dairy cottage is beautiful and the fittings and fixtures are first class. The rolling hills, nearby pubs and towns make this a great location to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the freeways and cities but close enough to all amenities. The Tesco not 5 mins away had everything needed and the cooking facilities in the cottage meant we could take full advantage and enjoy the week in between our busy schedule in Manchester and London. I particularly loved the view waking up each morning and the early morning walks around the area to wake up. The staff were wonderful and let us relax and enjoy our stay without any hassles. Please stay here if you want a high quality but true English countryside experience. We highly recommend our Oakerthorpe Dairy experience.

“Fabulous home from home”

I stayed here in the week for nearly 4 months, my desire was a home from home, Vic and his team made it exactly that. Oakerthorpe Holiday Village is in a fantastic setting, the dairy a gem amongst it, well equipped, calm, peaceful and internally modern. Nothing was too much trouble for my comfort, unobtrusive, yet attentive when required, it was an absolute pleasure & a real find. I will be back for sure, maybe for pleasure and not work next time, if you relish the country life, extreme comfort, up to date IT solutions, the internet, bluetooth & Sky then look no further. But keep it to yourself as commercialism will spoil this piece of Derbyshire magic.
