Watervale Retreat offers 4 separate cabins with parking amongst the native trees and birdlife. These cabins are basic but very clean and well fitted. They offer a good sized kitchen and lounge area. The TV and WiFi worked well. The hosts were welcoming and warm and offered us some very useful tips on where to go and what to see. The hosts kindly baked fresh bread for us each morning - many thanks. We found Watervale to be a great launching place to visit the wineries, Riesling Trail and history of the area.
We were particularly taken by Burra and it's surrounds.

Room tip: Best to arrive during daylight hours. It would be hard to find in the dark.

We stayed here for 5 nights while we explored the Clare Valley and surroundings areas. We couldn’t have wished for better accommodation. Our cabin was spotless and had more than enough towels, blankets, heating and kitchen equipment. Continental breakfast is provided including a fresh loaf of bread delivered each morning. Highly recommend this venue.

We really enjoyed our break at the cabin.
It was immaculate and very comfortable.
Cooking facilities inside and a BBQ on the property for self catering.
A lovely continental breakfast was provided including a delicious fresh baked loaf of bread delivered to our door each morning.
Hosts were friendly and welcoming.
It was nice walking around the bush property seeing the emus , alpacas and birds .
It is a short drive to several of the towns and wineries plus a short cycle to join the Riesling Trail bike path.
Definitely recommend for a lovely relaxing break .

Watervale Retreat is a wonderful location to access all that is on offer in the Clare Valley. Tracey & David provided some great recommendations based on our interests.

The delivery of freshly baked bread early in the morning was delicious and delightful! The cabin was clean and comfortable. The electric blanket, bathroom heat lights and the heater in the living space were very comforting for a cold spring for us visiting from northern Australia.

It was wonderful having a host that can communicate in Auslan!

Although we didn’t use them, it was great to see grab rails installed to provide physical access for those that would benefit from them.

Some of the recommendations Tracey and David suggested that we really enjoyed was having lunch at the Magpie & Stump (pub) and a tasting at Reilly’s Cellar Door which are both in Mintaro; visiting Sevenhills Cellars (for a self guided tour of the property) and dining at Indii of Clare, which was so delicious!!

I would recommend Watervale Retreat as great place to access the Clare Valley and the Resiling Trail.
