Le Trappiste is located 5 minutes' walk from the Markt on Kuipersstraat just behind the theatre and is a very lively, well lit cellar bar with amazing brick vaulted ceilings and plenty of seating. As with most of the bars in Bruges, the range of beers is incredible and the staff were all very pleasant. Just a word of caution: the bar is not open every day so check to avoid disappointment !!

This was by far our fave bar in Bruges. It is a lovely warm and quirky building, the bar is down a few steps to a cellar. There was a good atmosphere, varied mix of ages and the music was really good. We ordered the tasting beers (6) and the bar man was really attentive when we asked him to choose for us! Recommend number 18...

This bar has fantastic atmosphere, all the ingredients of a great cellar bar. Steeped in history. Fantastic choice of beer. But what made it for us was the really helpful staff. One young lady working there even sat down with us to give us some advice on what to see and do in the city. I love this place a must do.

We just happened to walk by this bar and thought it looked nice so we went in. They had a great beer selection and staff was friendly. We were there pretty early in the evening so it was nice and quiet and we were able to have a conversation easily. Make sure to bring cash since it's cash only.

A very charismatic bar, just a two minute walk from the Grote Markt in Brugge. Located down a few steps, in a quirky and noisy, (more about that later), cellar it has a veritable encyclopaedia of beers. It really is up there in the “Premier League” of Brugge bars, when it come to beer choice. The bar staff know their stuff and service was good. So the bar gets full marks. Sadly some of the clientele don’t.
On the evening of our visit, there was a party of very, very loud - screechy persons from the USA, using the fussball table for an ad-hoc tournament. Now I will accept accusations of being a miserable old killjoy, were it not for the fact that I was not alone in my observations. All drinkers within the vicinity of the fussball table, eventually fled as far away from the thing as they could. Every time one of the young ladies managed by some miracle to score, (by twirling the players around like Dervishes), they would jump up and down and begin shrieking at unbearable levels. Now this is NOT the fault of the bar but I am simply pointing out that the acoustics of the cellar, provided perfect amplification and direction for the screeching. We couldn’t stand it any longer than ten minutes and fled into the night - ears still ringing.
I will return - but only after checking out the clientele first.

Stopped in for a quick drink while in Bruges. Kids were allowed, facilities were clean, beer was delicious and there were plenty to choose from. A must see place for those who enjoy a delicious Belgian beer and history.
