This is a very warm and cosy hotel in a peaceful location a short walk from the main squares (a bit of a trek to the station with luggage/backpacks though). Breakfast is included and is really good, plenty of bread, yoghurt, cereals, pastries, juice etc. The staff are so friendly, it really made the stay a very enjoybale one.

We got a good deal on Expedia, stayed in one of the 'budget' rooms. It was bland, but comfortable. Lovely big window opening out on to the canal. There was no shower (just a bath with a sprayer thing), but the bathroom was modern and clean. The walls were very thin, but there wasn't any real noise disturbance, just the odd cough or audible TV in the morning, doors closing, the usual.

Previous reviewers are correct though - it isn't really four star. Things like small, cheap toiletries (best bring your own!), hairdryers only on reception, not a major inconvenience but not four star luxury! Coyuldn't complain for the price though. It made for a wonderful trip all in all.

Returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel yesterday. If you are expecting a 4 star hotel you will be disappointed. It is no more than 3 stars. The good point about this hotel is the location which is in a quiet part of the city, next to a tranquil canal but only a 5 minute walk to the Mark't (central square). My friend and I had requested a ground floor room and we were given No. 4 which overlooked the canal. The room was ok but a little tired looking with a hole in the wall where the door knob had connected to the wall on opening. We reported that one of the bedside lamps needed a new bulb and this was dealt with immediately. I would describe the owners as polite and effiecient rather than friendly. The breakfast is continental with very fresh bread, pastries, cheese, eggs, ham etc although when the fresh fruit ran out only halfway through the service time it was not replaced, so not the best breakfast I have ever had but by no means the worst. There is a small cosy lounge for evening drinks and the hotel will store your bags if leaving later in the day or arriving early - always a bonus. I agree with all previous comments as to the shower situation which could easily be remedied with a shower hook on the wall and a screen or curtain to stop the bathroom flooding when you try to shower as the actual shower head is quite powerful. Bruges is expensive to eat out and as this hotel doesn't have a restaurant you will need a good supply of euros. We were charged 17 euros for a 5 minute taxi journey from the station to the hotel , but it only costs 2 euros each on the bus which stops 5 minutes walk away from the Ter Brughe. Plenty of places to visit in Bruges, our 3 night stay was an ideal length of time.

Room Tip: There is no lift in this hotel so if stairs are a problem books rooms 2, 3 or 4.

The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The quiet and quaint old world feel of the hotel was very relaxing. Sitting in the lobby of this quiet hotel with some wine and a book is a perfect way to decompress.

4 days and 3 nights in this wonderful city to see the sights and drink the beer - However , it rained non stop ! Our hotel seemed to cater for this with wonderful ease .
Although all accomodation was on a B&B basis , the staff welcomed residents back into the hotel , the lounge , the bar and rooms at all times and provided umbrellas on loan and a room to dry clothes .
The hotel is only 4 or 5 minutes walk into the main Market & Burg area and looks out onto a lovely canal .
A great place to stay with very helpful staff , all speaking about 5 or 6 languages to make everyone welcome .

Room Tip: Pay for the deluxe upgrade rooms on the lower floors to avoid the steep stairs . The ground floor an...
