On entering the meseum there is a wow factor. The dinosaur exhibits are incredible. The dinosaurs are the best part of the museum. The rest of the animal exhibits are almost like a filler. It is definitely worth a visit.

You first know that you've arrived at the Museum of Natural Sciences when you see the two cool graffitied dinosaur skeletons. Like many European cities, graffiti is a cancer that makes everything look like a run down drugs den, the skeleton paintings look cool but predictably, it's heavily 'tagged' and there's litter all over the floor. You go through the gates up the stairs to the car park which goes all the way to the museum doors and a lifesize Iguanadon statue. The statue is a beautiful piece of art and a great welcome to the museum, only the hand was missing and cars and vans park right up to the podium beneath it, which gives it no room to be admired or properly photographed unless you get there when it's less busy.

When you enter the museum you are greeted by a huge imposing whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling, no doubt where the London NHM got it's inspiration. It looks fantastic, and lets you know that if they put what in London is the centrepiece as just decoration for the reception, you are in for a treat.

When you walk into the main dinosaur exhibit room, you have a view of almost everything, whilst this is impressive, it does leave you with no surprises and somewhat reduces the impact of some of the exhibits especially as you are looking down on them instead of looking up.

The main reason to visit the museum and the reason I chose Brussels for my city break this spring was the Bernissart Iguanodons, one of the earliest and most important prehistoric discoveries ever. This exhibit does not disappoint, the nine black mounted skeletons are displayed in the same poses they were in the 1800's. They look incredible and this alone makes the museum worth a visit.

There are many interesting casts of other dinosaurs in the huge room, including a beautifully posed version of 'Stan' the Tyrannosaurus and many child-friendly displays. The museum boasts a great zoology and mineral collection to boot.

If, like me, you are a fan of dinosaurs and other prehistoric life, you'll have a great time at this museum checking out the many exhibits.

It was so cold on our weekend visit I am so glad we saw this museum when searching through tripadvisor. It was worth the trip, I would recommend this place even on a sunny day. It was recommended that spend 2 hours there and I laughed, expecting to spend 30-45 mins but my 5 & 7 yr old lasted almost the whole 2 hours.

They loved the dinosaur section, there was so many activities for them to interact with. The animal section was their second favourite with the mankind section being their least favourite.
But it was a great time had by all!
