The ingredients of a perfect bar; history, great beer, hearty food and great service!! The walls tell the story of art and inspiration, the kind of food your grandmother would serve (if she was Belgian) an exceptional choice of beers and the two guys running the place could not have more friendly and helpful. We ordered Belgian beef stew which was rich and warming on a windy evening and beef carpaccio which was a nice light counterpart to the rich stew. I ordered a lambic beer, which was a rare treat; sour and complex and then on the staff recommendation I had a draft Zinne Bir after, a local Brussels-brewed blond bitter which a real joy. It had a grapefruit top note with a bitter finish, a really great beer. This is my idea of a perfect bar. I just wished I lived up the street. It would be my second home, which is what a great bar is all about. If you only go to one bar in Brussels, this should be the one.
