“A walk under the river”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2013 via mobile

The charm of the wooden escalator and the ability to say you walked under the river to the eastern shore make this a must see.

And the price is right, at free!

“Easy to get to Antwerp”

Park your car on the left bank of the Schelde and come by foot throught the St. Anna Tunnel, a nice (historical) tunnel where a lot of photographs are taken by amateur & professional photographers

“Good little walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2013

Walk under the river to the other side, take a few pictures and walk back. Ride a wooden escalator which is a little noisy and return.

Thats all there is to it, but it is free.

“A Must See!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2013

Crossing the tunnel under the river Schelde, walking or by bike, is an experience you shouldn't miss! The escalators are the original wooden ones and the oldest in Europe. There is also an elevator for bikes/wheelchairs. Until the 1950's you had to pay to cross, luckily for us now it's free. The only downside is that there is not much to do on the other side, though you have nice views of the skyline of Antwerp.

“special to walk that long under the stream”

A deep dive under the river and and great sight from the other side when coming out and walking back. Also few good restaurants at the other side with great views on twon, especially when able to eat outside.
