If you arrive on the small ferry from Volendam you'll probably wonder what this is. Located at the harbour, "the Wave" commemorates the great flood that hit Marken exactly 100 years ago this year.
It's worth taking a few minutes to have a closer look. It's not one of those monuments that's worth a special visit but if you find yourself in Marken you should take it in along with the Flood walk. Wish we'd had more time to do moer than just view "the Wave", Marken is a lovely little place. Worth a couple of hours of anybody's time.
