Highly recommended hotel which is conveniently located about 10mins walk from the train station - pretty comfy, clean rooms and great staff. No complaints really and also full marks for breakfast.

Some confusion with the name I think it is called Grand Hotel Gooiland so not sure where the Dutch brand above came from!

Hi Jaybeegee66,

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback.
It is wonderful to read your enthusiasm about the hotel!
We are really glad you enjoyed your stay.

To clarify the confusion regarding the hotel name: last year the name changed to Dutch brand hotel Gooiland. We are the first Dutch brand hotel in the Netherlands, as we only work with Dutch brands. Sometimes you still find the name Grand Hotel Gooiland on websites. Besides, the original letters from 1936 saying "Grand Hotel Gooiland" are recognizable in front of the building. That may have caused some confusion.

Thank you for staying with us and it will be our pleasure to welcome you again at Dutch brand hotel Gooiland.

The hotel is quite a distance from Amsterdam city, but if you need to travel around in Netherlands, this is a good place at good value.
A shopping area in walking distance with everything nearby. Train station is 7 minutes walk.
Large and clean room with coffee machine but no wardrobe.
The downside is the shower area without door. After shower, the floor were all wet, but it was easy to try.
Cleaning and counter staff were very nice and helpful.

Hi Irismiao,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We hope you enjoyed your stay with us.

The hotel is indeed perfectly located for travelling around. The train station is within walking distance and within 20 minutes you are in the centre of Amsterdam.

The room has a wardrobe to store some clothes. We take your feedback regarding the shower area with us. Currently, we are busy with an appropriate solution for this.

We hope to welcome you again at Dutch brand hotel Gooiland!

I came here for some business and I stayed in this hotel for three nights in room #306.

The first thing that surprised me from the room is the decoration and the simplicity of the furniture, in a sense that it even looks ridiculous. Come on! You can not call a pair of naked steel bars with five hangers a wardrobe....

The key of the room is attached to a piece of plumb that weights a lot so you don’t feel like willing to take it with you when you leave the hotel. By the way, I thought that 21st century hotels used magnetic keys and not clasic metal pieces attached to a 500gr. key holder. My mistake!

Then we have the blind issue. The room has a big window covering the whole wall to the main street, which actually is heading west. This means that in the afternoon, the room becomes an oven and the blinds have several spaces where the light filters into the room and rises the temperature inside pretty much (thanks God, there is a AC system in place). And the same situation occurs at dawn, the blinds do not keep the room in the dark when it is needed (you are dtill sleeping and you want to continue sleeping in the dark). By the way, one of the blinds is broken and you can not properly operate it.

With regards to the cleaning, I don’t usually have any comment other than outstanding, but this time I was surprised when I found some trash in the bin (supposedly from the previous customer) and a wasted deodorant spray behind the desk (supposedly from the previous customer, as well).

The breakfast did really surprised me very positively. The reason is that you may find freshly squeezed orange juice and the coffee machine is a nice Nespresso model so, for those who love a strong good coffee in the morning, this is a bonus.

I am not sure if I would repeat comming to this hotel again.

Hi Javiaranda 76,

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback.

The hotel is renovated in 2017. The design of the lobby and the 56 rooms, including 2 family rooms and 4 suites, is a combination of traditional Dutch brands, sleek luxury and a nod to the heydays of the radio.
It is unfortunate to hear that the concept of the hotel has not meet your wishes.

We take your feedback regarding the blinds in the room with us. Research has shown, and you confirm, that it is preferred to sleep with black-out curtains. Therefore, all the rooms are recently provided with black-out curtains to ensure the room is dark when it is needed.

With regards to the cleaning, our apologies for this situation to occur. We have forwarded the message to the person responsible to prevent this from happening in the future.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast offerings. We opted for the quality of traditional retailers in Hilversum.

Again our appreciation for your honest feedback.

We have just returned from a weekend break in Hilversum. We stayed 2 nights at the Gooiland with our two sons, aged 14 and 10. We arrived far earlier than expected as we had an early flight, arriving at the hotel at 10.30. The receptionist was lovely and friendly and apologetic that our room wasn't ready, I wouldn't have expected it to be at that early hour. The room was fabulous and spacious, really modern and so clean. Spacious bathroom, again immaculate. Huge attention to cleanliness in the room and I could not have faulted one thing. Air Con was very welcome as we were blessed with the weather during our stay. The boys had a bunkbed and there was a huge double bed in the room. You are provided with ear plugs as the Church is located directly across the road from the hotel and it does chime on the quarter hour. To be honest after 11 we were so tired from travelling that we did not hear it until maybe 5am. There are fabulous windows in this light and airy family room with funky black venetian blinds. There is a fridge in the room and a nespresso coffee machine. There are a lovely selection of restaurants in Hilversum which is a short stroll from the hotel. A gorgeous ice cream parlour was located directly beneath our window, its busy at the weekends but well worth it to stand in the queue. It is about a 20 minute train journey into Amsterdam and a 10 minute walk to the train station from the hotel. A lovely stroll from the hotel. For those of you not used to Holland be careful of the bikes!! Always look left and right before you cross the street/roads.
The staff at reception were lovely and friendly and very welcoming. The atmosphere in the hotel was so chilled out you felt relaxed the minute you entered the lobby.
Buy a 3 day rail pass also. If you intend travelling in and out to Amsterdam regularly, its the best option. We stupidly bought tickets for every trip we made and it cost us significantly more. Could not recommend this hotel highly enough.

Hi Sharon,

It is such a pleasure to read your wonderful feedback!
We are very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, the hotel and the surrounding so much.
We can't agree with you more: Hilversum is a happening place with a lot of great bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel is perfectly situated for a trip to one of the bustling cities like Amsterdam or Utrecht. And you were indeed very lucky with the weather! Such a sunny weekend is not that common over here.

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback.
We hope to see you again with the family at Dutch brand hotel Gooiland.

Great location, near the shopping mall and the center where all the bars and restaurants are located.

Impressive and interesting decoratiin, friendly staff and a nice breakfast.

One thing to take in mind is that it is noisy inside the room as it direct towards the main street so sleep quality is not so good although they put ear noise protectors 8n the room as they are well aware of this issue so I suggesr take a room that is far from the main road as possible.

The water pressure in the shower is superb and always have hot water in it!

Hi Poachsta,

Thank you so much for your feedback.
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and had a pleasant time in the hotel and surrounding.

We understand that you may have experienced the room as noisy. The building is from 1936 and not fully soundproof. That is indeed why we offer the airplugs. For a future booking don't hesitate to ask us for a room at the back of the hotel, those rooms are not situated along the main road.

We hope to welcome you again at Dutch brand hotel Gooiland
