PJ Tierney and his brother Paul excel in providing a first-class pub and restaurant in Haarlem based on their international experiences acquired in the hospitality sector throughout Europe.
They are no strangers to Haarlem, having worked at the former O'Briens pub and restaurant in Tempeliersstraat and until September 2016, owning their own pub in nearby Lange Begijnestraat. The current pub/restaurant is the pinnacle of their achievements. Not only is the location in Spekstraat excellent, but the ability to provide meals is a great plus point.
Needless to say, the pub does provide sports programmes on TV's but there is still plenty of room for those who want to enjoy a great meal without being disturbed. I should also add that Adrian, the chef, adds his own style of Caribbean flavour to the food on the menu.
In addition, a quiz takes place every Monday evening starting at 20:00 hrs. and if you visit on a Friday or Saturday evening, chances are you will be entertained by musicians.
While I have stated that I visited here in January 2017, I am a frequent customer who has been there for lunch and dinner. One of my favourites is the 'Thirsty Thursday' arrangement. The chef makes his own version of meat pies served for dinner. Be quick though otherwise they will be gone. It's best to order ahead.
Well I hope I've given you enough information to whet your appetite to go along and enjoy Tierney's 'gezelligheid'. Whether you're a local living in Haarlem or someone passing through, I know you will enjoy your visit.
