This apartment was a wonderful pleasant surprise and should be at the top of your list.
The apartment is on the Singel canal. The location is ideal and we were able to walk to every Amsterdam attraction from the Ann Frank House (about a 5 minute walk), to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum (maybe 15 minutes) to the Maritime Museum. It's only a few hundred feet from the Jordaan, and steps away from shopping and several nice restaurants.
The apartment itself is both beautiful and unique. It is made up from two separate houses once likely separated by a small street. As a result, the rooms are on different levels with an atrium like opening in the center.
The decorating is wonderful. The owner is a designer and it shows, from warm parquet floors to fun decorating details to original artwork. We ended up taking several pictures on our arrival as the apartment was so appealing. The kitchen is well-equipped and spacious. Overall, the apartment was roomy and comfortable. Each of the rooms had clever decorating, and the themes of each complemented one another very well.
The owner himself, Willem, is a terrific host. He communicated with us throughout the process and offered helpful tips. On our arrival he gave us a helpful map (better than the one we had brought) as well as helpful directions. He even booked us a cab for the return to the airport. Willem is charming and justifiably proud of the apartment.
We will happily come back here if we return to Amsterdam.
One note: As reflected above, the apartment has different levels and there are a fair number of steps due to that and its historic construction. Amsterdam in general is a walking town with often limited handicap access, and it is famous (or infamous) for having homes and apartments with lots of staircases. If you have mobility issues you may want to be aware of the limitations of the city generally and this apartment due to the stairways. We had no problem, and all the levels added to the apartment's charm.
This apartment is a luxury rental in a perfect location with a warm, personal owner. We could not have asked for better.
Spent 4 lovely days in Amsterdam at this property. It was our family's first visit to the city. Willem is very informative and gracious host. He welcomed us personally and had some snacks and beverages prestocked in the amazing kitchen. It is ideally situated close to Dam Square which is basically the heart of the city. Everything is a 5-15 minute walk . I would note that the floor plan is very open which makes it beautiful and spacious but could be a little awkward if you're not traveing with "close" friends or family. Will definitely want to stay here again when we return to this unique and historic city.

We stayed here with our 14 year old daughter and we all loved it! Our favorite accommodation on our 2 week Europe trip. I've rented many apartments in Europe, and Willem was by far the best host I've had. Beautiful, large, great location, washer and dryer, just perfect! Plus nice touches like a kitchen stocked with snacks and drinks, great restaurant recommendations and the sweet goodbye gift that Willem gave our daughter. He was also super helpful when our flight was cancelled. Will definitely stay here again.
