Just got back from a 5 night stay at this hotel. We arrived into Zuid Station (not Central) from the airport, as it's much closer to the hotel. It's just 1 stop from Schipol. A very easy walk of less than a mile from the station to the hotel. It was 3.80 euro each for a single train ticket.

We arrived into the hotel to a warm welcome from the lovely man on the desk. An eating area and bar are also part of this area and there was a cosy fire and it was nice and warm. We paid our City Tax on arrival (3.50 euro per night - not sure if it would have been half of that if there'd only been one of us, or if it's per room).

Our room was at the front of the hotel and was spacious but fairly basic, a bit knocked about but clean (apart from the very dingy net curtains which were either grey or needed a good soak in some whitening product). There was a kettle with tea, coffee, sugar and whitener and if you ran out reception were happy to give you more. There were 3 safes in the room! 1 of them big enough for a laptop.

The bathroom was tiny but had a nice fair-sized shower cubicle with a rain shower which could be detatched and hand held (thank goodness as I don't like water pouring down on my head). Powerful and always hot water. 2 towels each - a hand towel and a bath towel (not bath sheet unfortunately). In the shower was a shower gel dispenser and by the basin a liquid soap dispenser. Shower caps were provided and there was a hairdryer.

Across the road from the hotel at Pain de Quotidien you could get a very tasty (organic) breakfast. There was a beautiful bakery next-door-but 1 to the hotel and a good supermarket (out of the hotel, turn right, bakery is on the first corner, keep going and the supermarket (Albert Heijn) is just inside the 2nd road on the right). Next door to the hotel in the opposite direction is a sandwich shop and another supermarket (Markt) a bit further on. You definitely won't starve that's for sure!

We decided to walk everywhere and to the centre took about 40 minutes (me - fast walker) but with hubby, an hour (a dawdler). But less time to reach the Van Gogh Museum and Reijksmuseum. If you don't want to walk, the numbers 5 and 24 trams stopped right outside the hotel. Very convenient but also made our room a bit noisy as they run VERY frequently until about 0030 then start again very early.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was warm and cosy and the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Stayed for two nights with my husband. Lovely hotel, room was basic but clean and very large, got really warm at night. Bathroom was clean, powerful hairdryer in bathroom, towels provided. Reception staff really helpful and friendly. Free WiFi (even in rooms, not just lobby!). Hotel can hold luggage for you on your arrival and departure date if you wish to sightsee. There os a cafe on hotel but we didn't try although it looked very nice. There is a tram stop across the road from hotel, take number 5 to go to central city stop via the museum quarter. Hotel sells the team tickets. I recommend buying 48 hour pass works out cheaper. We walked to museum quarter on day one and it was about a 20 min walk. Lots to see on the way, beautiful architecture and quirky shops. Supermarket next to hotel for snacks and drinks. Train from airport to central station is only 15 minute ride amd cost €5 each one way.

Nice but dated hotel. Room clean and clean bedding etc About 35 mins from Centre of Amsterdam and set in local area with shops etc around it. Not so nice at night lot of young locals hanging around and very noisy. Local brothel nearby. Plus side tram stop across the road which runs frequently into centre.

This was a nice hotel close to museum quarter but tram stop right outside to get to everywhere else easily. There was quite a bit of noise from housekeeping / other rooms so maybe some more sound deadening needed but wasnt a major issue. Would stay here again

This hotel is outstanding! We stayed in room 406, it was a very large room with everything you needed from hairdryer to tea and coffee making facilities. A free and easy safe in the room. Tram stop directly outside that takes you into the heart of everything. Hotel gives you the option of having breakfast and dinner there, bit pricey and better off eating out. Area is surrounded by a lovely little bakery on the corner. Would definitely use this hotel again and would like the same room. Set just outside of the bustle and hustle so very quiet at night which is fantastic if you want a great nights sleep, which you will as the beds are very comfortable. Reception staff very friendly and offer extra tea and coffee for the room if needed at no extra cost. You can buy your tram pass at the hotel which we did was 12.50 euros for 48 hours. Definitely looking forward to returning!!
