“a true gem of a boutique hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

arrived pretty late at the Toren, only to find that my reservation had not gone through and somehow ended up in the spam folder, but the front desk couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating so I ended up getting a canalview room, probably one of the largest and most beautifully decorated hotel rooms I have ever seen. the location is perfect: Amsterdam is a small town, you can easily walk pretty much everywhere from here. haven't tried breakfast as there are way too many great cafes around the hotel.

I booked this hotel as a birthday treat for my partner. I read the Tripadvisor reviews so I had quite high expectations - we were not at all disappointed. As one was available, we were given a room upgrade with a massive jacuzzi bath to die for! The room was beautifully decorated, bed very comfortable and a fresh coffee maker. Mini bar all sensibly priced and although we didn't order any, the room service food looked great. We loved the location, very central with a quite canal front. There was a very pleasant garden at the back. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly; they were always available even if it was just for a chat. We had a great cocktail in the bar - A Sebastian - try it! Once again, thank you to all the staff at The Toran who helped make our stay one to remember.

All around great experience. Lavish rooms. The jacuzzi in the room was perfect. The hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful at every turn. Loved it. Hope I can afford to return someday.

Room Tip: Book the room with jacuzzi. Well worth the price.

We stayed here for my birthday and had a great stay. On arrival we were impressed by the decor. The bedroom was quiet small though this is expected in Amsterdam and the decor more than made up for it.

During check in we were informed there was work taking place but assured we would not be affected by it. Unfortunately this proved to be incorrect as we were woken up early on the first morning with work taking place adjacent to our room.

We informed the staff on our way out for the day who were helpful and offered us another room. On our return to the hotel our bags had been placed in our new superior room which was amazing with a jacuzzi bath in the room.

The owners had also provided us with a bottle of cava, chocolates and strawberries as it was my birthday-such a special touch and really appreciated.

The staff were extremely helpful offering advice on places and restaurants to visit aswell as being willing to book for us. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would visit it again.
