Description: Specialising in East African cuisine, Restaurant Azmarino is set in the Pijp district of Amsterdam, near to Sarphatipark and the famous Albert Cuyp market. Dishes at this Amsterdam restaurant are based largely on Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine, with meat dishes of differing strengths of flavour featuring heavily. All are served with vegetables and 'enjera', a typical sourdough pancake. Here, you also eat the traditional way - with only your hands. Also typical of East Africa is the beer, served in a gourd. Arguably one of the more unusual restaurants in Amsterdam, Restaurant Azmarino offers a little taste of Africa in the heart of the city.

Azmarino has been and still is my favourite Ethiopian Restaurant in Amsterdam.
I recommend to order the mixed plate, with the chef’s selection. It’s a variety of meats, vegetables and flavours. Or completely vegetarian if you like. Choose spicy or not spicy, whatever you prefer.
Ethiopian food is eaten by hand, using the injera (savory pancake) to grab the food.
The restaurant is run by a very friendly couple, and prices are very reasonable!

The lady that serves is really nice. We had the african beer and some 2 main courses. It is really good for a moderately priced meal and a hand eating experience :)

To be honest this is first time i eat African food.i ordered dorowot + keywot combinations of braised chicken with spiced butter paper served with yogurt and braised beef with spiced butter paper served with yogurt and cream cheese. The taste of braised beef similiar with rendang in indonesia. I also ordered banana beer and the taste is not bad.this restaurant is worth to try

Azmarino is truly a place worth visiting! Great dishes to try (we tried spinach and chicken with my friend) and also nice African beers to taste! The service is really friendly! The place itself is not really decorated but if focusing on the food you don't even remember it! Oh and the prices are really nice too!
