Van Gogh museum was my first choice so went to see this as tickets to Van Gogh were sold out (did manage it later though). Not a fan of this type of art even though this museum showcased a lot of work by the old masters. But it's a popular museum judging by the number of people inside.

Standing face to face with some of the paintings that accompany you since childhood can be a very special experience. In reality these painting look much better than in the coffee table albums.
We may have been lucky but even at the most famous paintings there was not a big crowd and we could get close to the canvas.

Yes there are some stunning masterpieces here from great artists, but we were somewhat underwhelmed by the whole experienced and to be honest there are better museums in other major capitals. You also have to be careful of trying to fit too many museums into the same day and just getting tired of them....

There are plenty to see at Rijksmuseum but being around the complex itself was already amazing.

Some artworks were on tour to Sydney, Australia (the irony) but managed to see a lot of Rembrandt’s work famous artworks were there.

The museum was big so be prepared to spend a lot of time to go through everything. Wear comfortable shoes! Spend a little time in the room with decorated stained glass.

This is an amazing museum, with much to offer. Having limited time, we bought the audio guide and followed the "Highlights" tour, which took us through all the galleries but highlighted key pieces. We got to see other works too, of course, but enjoyed hearing about some of the most notable art within our time frame.
