Would 100% recommend and go again. I tried a lot of dishes and the 'mjadara' was my favourite main dish. The mazzas were all pretty tasty but i found the homos a bit runny to what i am used to. Least favourite. The grilled meat was tender and well spiced. Good pricing too. I wish they blended the mint in the lemon/mint juice!!!

Amsterdam is not a cheap city and the quality and value of of food and restaurants can be variable. Sham is an outstanding find. It sits on a big canal and serves tasty great value food. It is close to Damrak Straat and not far from Central Station. It offers a Syrian take on middle eastern cuisine so if you know Lebanese food this is a very close fit. All of the food was fresh, beautifully prepared and served and generous. Two vegatarians ate with a meat eater and each person was fully satisfied. The staff were friendly, informative, respectful, fast and deft. We had several dips including a stunning egg plant and humous followed by tabouleh salad, meat dishes, falafel and a foule dish all tasty very fresh, delicious and filling. The wines and beers were all cold and refreshing. An excellent meal.

If you have eye for detail and you enter a toilet that has been decorated with love you know the rest of the restaurant will be good to. At least you hope it will! And it is.
The food and staff are handled with love.
I will go there again!

Most amazing Lebanese and Syrian food! Haven eaten Lebanese food around all the time staying in UAE. This was totally comparable or even better.
Ordered the regular Lebanese mezze to start with like hummus, fatoush, kibbeh, falafel, muhammara and mix grill. All were just too yummy.
Then there was a special Syrian dish called Majadara. It was awesome vegetarian lentil with burgul and fried onions.
Want a break from French, Dutch, Chinese, wok food.....visit this place.
It's vegetarian friendly.
