Far out from the hustle, almost at the end of line 14 and 7 is this hotel. It's appeal is that it's in residential area away from the centre but for some that would be a disadvantage. Think 20 mins to the centre.
Staff were good and helpful without being exceptional. Breakfast was €12 but we opted for the bakery en route to the tram stop at Plein 40' 45".
Rooms were dated (dark wood furniture etc) but kept clean and tidy. The bathrooms were well stocked. For a British tourist it felt like a Travel Lodge would do in 1990. We were there for the City, not the room, so we only experienced it at night, when tired. We slept well so in my opinion, that's a win.
For value, I can't fault it and was very happy with the stay. My best piece of advice is to work out where you need to pick tram 14 up from if you are coming from Centraal Station. It's a walk. We went to Gare Zuid (West Station) and got the Metro (Line 50, direction Isolatorweg, stop De Vlugtlaan) and then tram 14 (direction Slotterpark). Although Centraal Station has a left luggage facility, it was full, so we ended up wandering through the streets of Amsterdam trying to find the right tram stopMore
