Located in a trendy alternative area of Zürich, the Samses restaurant is an imaginative, thriving restaurant with excellent vegetarian food plus several vegan options. Unusually for Zürich, it is quite reasonably priced, too. They have a buffet from which you can help yourself to a wide variety of food, priced per 100 g (slightly higher for eat-in than take-out). The a la carte dishes are most interesting, including a Malaysian Mah-Meh curry and an Indonesian Gado-Gado peanut dish (both impeccably prepared and highly recommended). Wine and beer are available at reasonable prices.
For a little more of the offbeat Zürich flavor, before or after eating at Samses, be sure to drop in at the Mata Hari bar across the street (like many such establishments, alas not listed on TripAdvisor); the red decor, offbeat posters, and wildly tattooed bartender are great fun.
