Very helpful staff

Review of Hotel Elite
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Oct 2019
We stayed six nights in October in a very clean and comfortable room with a cute balcony. On our final night, we had to leave in the wee hours of the morning to get our train, and the desk clerk Rudolpho was particularly friendly and helpful, looking up train times for us and making us a coffee. The breakfast offered each day was an assortment of croissants, yogourts, cereal, cheese and lunch meats, and even eggs in a basket! Of course there was also juice, milk and coffee. We loved the quiet street and would definitely recommend this hotel!

I spent three nights in a fourth floor room with balcony and lake view. The room was quite comfortable, with marvelous lake breezes from the large window on the east side and the slider door on the south. The balcony was spacious, with a table and chairs. The bed was comfortable, and there were plenty of electrical outlets, a nice side chair, minibar frig, plenty of storage and a security safe. The bathroom is small and dated, but perfectly fine and spotlessly clean.

The desk staff was always friendly and helpful, as was the dining room staff at breakfast. And with pastries, breads, fruit, boiled eggs, meats, cheese, juice, cereal, etc., it was easy to get a filling breakfast which carried me through my day.

The location is superb: five minutes from the train station and metro line. Yes, it's uphill from the station, but not very far. Besides, everything is uphill in Lausanne. The position near the train station is convenient not only for transportation, but for take-away food options for a decent and reasonably-priced meal at the end of the day.

I enjoyed this hotel, and give it a strong recommendation. I would certainly stay there again.

Worth the one block steep hill lugging your suitcase from the train station. With no luggage you can easily use the steps up and down. Although we didn't have a view of the lake, we did have a balcony where we had the evening sun with a table and 2 chairs. Breakfast was very good. Croissants and chocolate croissants fantastic. Breakfast room a bit tight when full. Staff located behind closed kitchen door very loud when speaking to one another on more than one occasion. Had a challenging relationship with the shower head.

Leoneck could not be easier to get to from the airport. The # 10 tram stops directly outside the hotel. From the hotel it is easy to walk to the Old Town (take a tram back, stop is Heldegg). The rooms are clean, the breakfast has more than the average # of choices, and the restaurant meals at dinner are good and reasonably priced. The staff are pleased to help. After leaving I discovered a billing over charge; Cedric the manager acknowledged it and fixed it immediately. This is a good hotel with a better than average price/value ratio run by people who do a good job for you.

Spent 4 nights here a a base to explore Chillon castle and Geneva etc. Reasonable sized rooms. Great location close to the main railway station but also the underground (metro) which runs up and down. Thus nearby COOP stores, restaurants and fast-food outlets. Still some uphill walking involved but not too much - hey! it's a city built on a hillside from the lake.
Lots of TV channels in multiple languages. Wifi was a bit dodgy in that some devices wouldn't connect (used a pc as a hot-spot). Good breakfast. No coffee facilities in rooms but there was a bar fridge. The over-bath shower would be challenging for some people. Multilingual staff. Bed was a bit soft but wouldn't mind staying here again.

The main benefit for me, was the location. Literally a 5 minute walk to the metro and main station. This meant that within 20 minutes, I could get to most places I needed to go to.
On first impressions it does seem a little dated, but it’s actually very comfortable, quiet and calm. All the staff were very pleasant and very patient (even with my terrible French). The breakfast is excellent.
I found a couple of lovely places to eat within a 15 minute walk, plus could get to Ouchy (so to the lake) on the metro in less than 20 minutes from leaving the hotel. Even the WiFi was adequate for my purposes; certainly better than many chain hotels I’ve stayed in.
Would happily recommend this hotel, as long as you realise you’re swapping modernity for some charm.
