The Hotel Beau Rivage Palance in Lausanne has made the “Amber & Sarah’s Nonsensical Rankings of Hotels List” coming in at a shocking #3, knocking the Bairro Alto, Lisbon into 4th place. The hotel had the following notable factors that led to such a strong showing:
The location on the lake in Switzerland was awesome. The hotel is right by the lake but an excellent metro (free) takes you up the hill so you do not have to ruin your expensive sandals to get to the Hermes Store at the top of the hill.
The spa has phone chargers in the lockers.
We got a gift every night including a chocolate mountain, champagne, fruit, chocolates.
We were able to get a free electric boat from the hotel and go out into the middle of the lake and jump in. Hotel gave us towels and water to take with us.
The hotel smells really good.
The waiters were pretty hunky and the food at every restaurant and on the pool deck was awesome. The Breakfast buffet was 10/10 delicious with little 2x2 inch avocado toastlets with pomegranate seeds and tiny edible glowers on them. Great wine and champagne.
There were always lounge chairs available at the pool
On the con list keeping it out of gold/silver medal contention:
The room key was heavy and bulky
It is not the Six Senses and is not located in Sultanahmet.
Buckets of hot cheese, aka fondue, are kinda gross and smell up the surrounding area…
We dressed up every day in our best outfits with our designer handbags and still felt underdressed because we do not have rich husbands who buy us Hermes purses and solid gold Rolex watches…
Seriously though, this hotel was great. The people watching was the best ever if you have an eye for scoping out fashion (i.e. that girl has the new Chanel, or that girl has $50,000 of Hermes on). Big engagement rings and fancy people, but a mix of couples and families. Not a hot spot for the young and hip, but my mom would have loved it. The food was really terrific and there were lots of things to do around the town, Ferry to France, wine tasting, Tennis, shopping, AWESOME hiking just about a 45 minute drive away, paddleboarding, eating crepes in the best crepe place ever, eating more crepes and regretting my life choices. The Olympic museum is right next door and was cool especially during the Olympics where they are having a big viewing party. It is NOT a cheap hotel and the Guerlain facials and spa were very expensive
