t took 3 years to plan a trip for our 3 generation family of 16! we were looking for a quaint village in the Alps, a perfect place where we could enjoy snow, skiing, good restaurants and family gathering time and space. (Hotel rooms would not be suitable for family get togethers. )
We finally found it: the Heinz Julen Loft and Penthouse.
the views were spectacular, everyone had a place to sleep, and even provided a crib and stroller for our 2 year old! Every room had an exquisite view. and every bedroom had an en-suite bathroom. (not easily found anywhere in Europe.)
though we were in the mountains, looking down on the quaint village of Zermatt, we had easy access by elevator, which put us right out in the center of town!
most importantly was the service provided not only while there, but also prior to our arrival, as we were each arriving at different times, from various airports. Their concierge services were fantastic, with many needed recommendations.
once we arrived, we were welcomed by our FABULOUS concierge, BRONAUGH, who PERSONALLY met us at the train station (numerous times), organized our taxi and luggage to our house, arranged ski rentals and lessons, along with which slopes for the various types of skiing, restaurant reservations. you name it, and she was right there available for any and all questions/ problems. we had her personal phone number and could text or call her at any time. I have traveled extensively for over 65 years, but I have never experienced any service comparable to what we received there.
.
If I must add any cons at all it would be that the bedrooms were small, but as Bronaugh explained, the architect said he wanted to concentrate on the living spaces, which were huge. Also, it would have been nice to have an elevator to connect the 2 houses, which were stacked one on top of one another. but we managed just fine. we had mentioned that the key box to the penthouse was very difficult to open, and a new and easy to open box appeared that very day!
i cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. As one of our grandchildren said, “I’m living my best life right here”
