Stopping here was a total shot in the dark for us, and it was marvelous! We were hiking in the area and were on the early side - about 18:30. When we stopped in, they greeted us warmly and explained that the kitchen didn't open until 19:00, but that they could set us up with some appetizers.

It was an amazing selection. We had a wild boar sausage and a terrine. The staff could not have been nicer, and the place is absolutely cozy! We sat near the grill inside. Pretty soon the whole place filled up with diners. At 19:00, the kitchen opened and they took our dinner orders.

For dinner, we had the polenta with pot roast and the pork shin. Everything was so good. We can't wait to go back. The prices were totally reasonable, too (considering this is Lugano). For 2 appetizers, 4 glasses of wine, a bottle of water, 2 main courses and 2 teas, we paid just less than CHF 100.

This place is awesome!

Great food, good wine, reasonable prices, super friendly staff, great grotto atmosphere - we enjoyed ourselves a lot. The saffron risotto was world class. Very young and enthusiastic team - keep up the good work!

The starters (a meat platter and goat cheese) were okay, but the rest of the food was of poor quality. The polenta was very bland (stodgy and under seasoned) and the funghi porcini didn't taste fresh. I was under the impression that most of the ingredients of our main dishes were simply cooked from frozen or re-heated. The dessert was even more disappointing: it consisted of whipped cream and a few cheap soggy biscuits in a glass, decorated with 2 or 3 strawberries. The price was exceedingly high, even for Swiss standards.

We advise to visit the grotto definetely, and we suggest to book a table. During winter you eat insight and the room is fairly small. The location is decorated at the best, having dinner while looking at the grill is very special. Cosy place and super friendly staff. We took affettati as starter and they were super good. Main dishes, a horse steak and pork ribs, sublime. Side dish really appreciated as well. Tonight the special dessert was tiramisu made with panettone, excellent. We find the price/quality the best had so far in Switzerland.
