Meeting a friend and business partner in Bern is not easy. The Schweizerhof Lobby a good place. But somehow the management must have changed. It's getting worse: my friend and my colloeague sit at a table. When l come back from the washroom they dissappeared. A young waitress sent them to the smokers lounge. We are all non smokers. I ask to speak to the manager. No one appears. After a while the waitress reappears and want additional fee for the 'private smokers lounge '. No kidding. Very very clumsy hospitality and very embarassing experience for a five star place. I will not recommend this place to my guests any more.

We regret to hear, that you have been disappointed with our service in the Lobby-Lounge-Bar. We do apologize for any inconveniences caused. We have reviewed your feedback with our Outlet Manager as well with our Food & Beverage Manager. Occasionally we offer our Private Cigar Lounge to our guests in case our Lobby-Lounge-Bar is already full. This is an alternative option for our guests and we do inform that it is part of our Cigar Lounge. Further we allow us to inform you that the use of the Private Cigar Lounge is free of charge unless you book it exclusively for an event or meeting. We do apologize if we did not inform you properly or if there was a misunderstanding in our communications. This is of course not the exacting standards we usually apply. Please rest assured that we will put all efforts in training the employees in order to improving the guest experience.

It is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future. We thank you once again for sharing your experience, and we are looking forward to welcoming you again at the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern.

A beautiful room, dramatic lighting, so comfortable. Impeccable staff. Truly luxurious and friendly at the same time.
Service is the strong point, and gorgeous up to date decor.
Location can't be beat, at the train station and at the heart of Bern's arcaded shops and restaurants.

1st impressions...hotel is branded like a grand dame of Bern with the price that comes with it. Unfortunately, the space feels tight and tiny (quite different from intimate like JK Place in Florence). Even the junior suite that we stayed in feels tight, we had difficulty fitting our 2 suitcases in both the living and bedroom.
The staff makes up for it though!

Stayed here for one night on a flying visit to Bern.
Pulled up outside the hotel and were immeadiatley greeted with smiling faces and did not see our bags till we got to the room.
Reception staff were also amazing, very professional and courteous.
Then we come to the things that make a hotel what it is and thats the staff.
You would expect that with it being a five star hotel that the staff are trained to a high standard dont get me wrong,they are but the secret to a good 5 star is training,training and guess what! more training.
This is one thing that lacks here drinks knowledge on the bar is limeted,staff walking around with theire shirts hanging out and very noisy slaming trays down and slamming the glass washer closed,5 star also means finesse and chefs that cant cook eggs but that not his fault that the fault of the kitchen managment team for not training him.
The bar card could also do with re-write, a single malt is not a malt scotch.
But all in all this place is a must to stay in quite expensive but you only live once.

This was truly a wonderful experience. Modern well lit rooms. Electric block out blinds.
Welcome fruit and nuts and chocs. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful spacious bathroom with excellent shower. Splendid linen. The cherry on this cake was the absolutely wonderful concierge Luc. He was more than fantastic - from collecting train tickets to ensuring collection with a transport company in another city in the early hours of the morning, to never ceasing to assist with anything. What an asset to this group - huge congratulations for all you did for us Luc.
