This is a very Swiss establishment. Every detail is perfected by the chef owner at a nice villa just outside of Basel Altstadt. You choose either 8 or 12 course menu of which all dishes are great. I have to remind you that it takes little bit too long to finish the experience. It is a great restaurant.

We had the business lunch there and were the last ones to arrive for lunch. We enjoyed excellent service throughout the menu and the menu served was one of the most pleasant and tasteful menus in a while. The condiments and spices used for creating the very individuaized dishes are a reveleation. You truly taste yourself through every dish. The ingredients are well balanced while at the same time so diversified that the food served is just such a joy to eat. Also if you have the time pay a visit to the

"Taste, colours, spices, happiness, and surprise" are the 5 words Tanja Grandits uses to describe her culinary offering. And she's right. The tasting menu, with a choice of 8 or 12 courses and wine pairing, serves up bold Asian flavors and bursts of colour and texture that delight and surprise even the most jaded of palates. The decor is understated and the service efficient and discreet, letting the food take center stage. And, keep your eyes open because the diminutive and humble Grandits often serves guests the first course herself. An absolute delightful dining experience, every time!

We had dinner at this restaurant for the first time. Very nice environment, internal and external. With a tram station in front of the restaurant (tram 15, Studio). The 12 course menu is a journey of 4 hours through excellence. This is one of the best meals in our life. The service is top, but also very friendly. We also recommend to take the wines by glass proposed with the menu. This is a perfect combination to fully enjoy all tastes!

I traveled to Basel on a whim to join an old college friend at the tail end of their extended business trip. On the last day of my stay, my friend had an all-day training, so what does any card carrying foodie do in a novel city with a few free hours to kill, having tired of museums and sightseeing? The obvious answer is to review the best restaurant offerings for lunch in town and indulge in gluttonous behavior, so that is exactly what I did.

After pouring over the dining options, Basel appeared to have a good deal to offer to those who enjoy a culinary adventure, but the unique cuisine of Tanja Gandits stood out while researching restaurants. While I am not one to be overly impressed by Michelin stars and awards in the culinary world, as I have eaten some of the finest meals in the most unknown and understated establishments and have been disappointed in those with high marks, Tanja Grandits proved, over and over again, during my twelve course tasting menu why she had earned each one of her many reported accolades.

Each course of the meal was innovative and fun, punctuated by unique and explosive flavor profiles that delighted the palate and were paired perfectly with wines served by a friendly and attentive waitstaff. The food at Restaurant Stucki, was not only delicious in taste, but exquisite in presentation. Highlights of the twelve courses served during my lunch included the sea bass ceviche with basmati granola and wild herbs; the caviar with cardamom cauliflower, with macadamia nuts and kalamansi jelly; the morels with mace spinach and mocha jus; the corn fed chicken with galangal coconut brew, hawkbit and passion fruit salsa; the adzuki bean sorbet with hibiscus lassi and marscarpone brittle and the blood oranges with circa confit, creme fraiche almond moose and caramel toast (note: two of the courses that I loved were desserts and I rarely eat or order dessert when dining out).

The Restaurant Stucki is the epitome of fine dining without being stuffy or overbearing. The price-point is cost prohibitive for frequent dining; however, for the quality and exceptionality of the dining experience, worth every Swiss Franc in your wallet. If you eat nowhere else during your stay in Basel, eat here. Kudos, Tanja Grandits ~ I will need to find a reason to come to Basel again, if only to eat another meal at the Restaurant Stucki!
