“Quiet and cosy home for nature lovers”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Staying in the smallest of the three cottages (La Stalla) we had a particular beautifull view through our panoramic window and on our terrace. All of this surrounded by the lush greens of the Umbrian hills and the sing-a-song of a lonely nightingale. The atmosphere is completed by the appearance of amazing fireflies (seasonal). Don't forget to order David's excellent dinner with a special service supprise. Using the herbal garden, cuddling the cute dogs, and refreshing ourselves in the clean pool we felt like home.

“Sensational Place”
Reviewed 31 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This is the first place I have been to twice. We first came in September last year, loved it to such an extent we have just been back in May.

The family are lovely, the cottages great, the view sensational, the facilities and pool excellent, the food delicious (should you wish to take up David's offer of cooking, and really you should).

If, like us, you're looking for a family holiday, or indeed a stunning place to relax, then look no further. Truly.

“Excellent in all respects”
Reviewed 31 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Have just returned from spending a fantastic week at Casa San Gabriel. From the warm welcome given to us by Chrissie on arrival to the splendid meal cooked by David one evening assisted by the two girls, everything was perfect. The location was fantastic (right in the heart of the countryside but with towns and villages easily accessible) and the standard of the accommodation was very high (with a very generous food welcome pack). The family's two dogs were a nice addition to the ambience and we enjoyed taking them out on a couple of walks with us. Would certainly consider a return visit, next time with other members of the family.

“Perfect base for an Umbrian adventure”
Reviewed 23 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Travelling through Italy with a friend, we spent three nights at Casa san Gabriel and it was the highlight of our trip. Tucked away amongst rolling hills and vineyards (but not so far it's hard to find), the views down the valley towards Assisi were some of the best we found in Italy.
Chrissie and David are natural hosts - making you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Even their two super-friendly dogs - Bessie and Cuba, chip-in with the hospitality.
Unfortunately we didn't get to use the pool during our stay, as we were too wimpy to go in during a spell of cloudy weather, but I can imagine it would be amazing in the sun.
We loved Umbria as a whole - Orvieto (where Chrissie and David have their grapes made into delicious wine) and Gubbio were particular highlights.
And there's loads to see closer to base too. We never left the house without the brilliant folder they'd put together with restaurant recommendations and guides to the nearby towns.
Make sure you take a walk around the estate - walking through the wild flower meadows, olive groves and vineyards, with views down to the property below, was truly magical.

“Idyllic Umbrian Getaway”

We had a remarkable weeks stay at Casa San Gabriel and I highly recommend it for a tranquil and relaxing getaway. The accommodations are excellent, we stayed in Il Fienile, and everything you could need has been provided. The beds, linens and furniture are of high quality and the cottages are thoughtfully decorated. Chrissie and David are the perfect hosts…there when you need them to provide you with any tips and information necessary to make your stay and exploring enjoyable.
They have provided a very thorough guidebook about the local attractions and I strongly advise to read it as it has invaluable information on how to get around locally, where to park and where to eat. (David’s recommendation to take the train to Florence was great, thanks!)
As other reviews have stated, the views from all of the cottages and especially from the pool area are gorgeous across the valley and towards Assisi. Don’t miss the starry nights.
The location of Casa San Gabriel is great, it's an easy drive to many local beautiful hill towns; we visited Gubbio, Montone, Assisi, Spello and Speleto. A little further drive to Siena and San Gimignano in Tuscany are worth it.
Our only regret, too much sightseeing and not enough time at Casa San Gabriel! Be sure to take time to relax at CSG. Hikes on the valley trails are invigorating and peaceful. Casa San Gabriel is an excellent value and it was great to meet Chrissie, David and their two daughters Eli and Lucia.
