If you are looking for sanctuary from your daily life at an unbeatable rate (and are willing to travel to central Italy), then look no further. Cast in middle of the mellow Umbrian countryside just bordering Tuscany, this old brick cottage was smartly refurbished into holiday apartments that conserve most of the original atmosphere. From your terrace you will enjoy an unrestricted view of the surrounding hills covered in sunflowers and wheat fields, and the sporadic village church. After a refreshing bathe in the swimming pool and some lazy tanning on one of the nearby sunloungers, you can treat yourself to a copious dinner at the small restaurant just outside the cottage gate (managed by the owners of the holiday house) and taste some authentic Italian regional cuisine.
The owners are a rare example of genuine kindness and hospitality and are always ready to solve any problem you might have, but are never intrusive: They promptly accepted to change the sprung bed base of our bed when we pointed out that it is was uncomfortable!
Just a couple of minor problems: The Wi-Fi connection is excruciatingly slow and virtually useless; without air conditioning summer nights can be too warm for comfort.More
