Owner description: The shop is located before the arch that leads to the square of the lower basilica of San Francesco. Very nice aesthetically, contains within it a charming décor. Our products are 100% the Umbrians and we ourselves who we select staff for our clients, in Italy and abroad, the best products that our magnificent region can offer.

We were walking past "Tesori Dell Umbria" a short distance after leaving the gates of the San Francesco's Basilica and we were offered cheese tasting and on looking through the open doorway of the shop it looked inviting and it was lunch time. Luca and Maria had us seated and offered us to taste wine, cheese and italian meats.
You are seated and surrounded by wine bottles and hanging prosciutto hanging from the ceiling. We had a Panini each with beer and we nibbled on selected cheese which Luca offered us during our stay. Maria and Luca are truly exceptional hosts who made the whole experience fun whilst enjoying a meal and drink.

Walking along "la via Frate Elia" towards a most beautiful Basilica di San Francesco, you are awed by the purity that this church displays. Our plans were to make a complete and informative visit of this historical venue...then enjoy an Umbrian bite soon after. San Francesco's Basilica was exceptional. Walking through the basilica was quite moving. A number of hours later...time for lunch. Wanting to experience the tasty Umbrian flavors of their wine and famous 'salumi'(cured meats), we stopped at "Tesori dell'Umbria"...right there just beyond the gates of the Basilica. Our hosts, Luca and Maria, are pleasant, knowledgeable and gracious. As our title says(direct translation), we discovered the treasures of Umbria. Luca and Maria not only offer tastes, their informative reviews and descriptions are as poetic as they are passionate. Dining out is supposed to be an experience. Surrounded by wine bottles, the sweet aromas of fresh cheeses and local 'salumi', the ambience provided by the cozy locale and easy-going hosts made for an exceptional culinary delight. Is it possible that lunching in Assisi is divine, as well?

Strategically very good place
It was rain when we walked up to hill to St. Francesco Basilica. And proposed samples of cheese by nice fellow Luca didn’t worked under rain. In ours way back down after couple hours rain was gone and we are looked for good place for lunch. Sample of cheese were so good so walked inside.
Cheese plate together with Italian beer and panini with prosciutto and cheese were delicious, Maria served well with full attention and also gave us some wine samples. We got nice desert and complimentary chocolate wine. We also bought Figs Glaze for cheese, same that was on sample plate.
And don’t forget to visit little glass bathroom on the next to main room, it’s fun as well
Thanks Maria and Luca.

The people working here were great. I'm a novice wine drinker and really hadn't enjoyed the table wines at the restaurants in Italy. They took time to help me find something suited to my taste. Very friendly. Very patient. Nice atmosphere. The cheese and Balsamic were also great. So good that I had a half dozen bottles shipped to me in the US.
