Solitude and silence and the sacred radiation of the holy men with Saint Francis may bless everyone who comes here to pray.

We decided to walk the path up to the hermitage on a hot July day. At 55 years old and not in the fittest form, at times we wondered why. As we got closer, we were very happy we did. Just to walk the same walk St Francis walked so many times to his favorite place to pray was an amazing experience. This is my absolute favorite place. It is so beautiful and peaceful and I definitely felt the spirit of St Francis with me as I hiked and prayed. The cave St Francis prayed in is now inside. Sit down and say a prayer and bring your self to a different time. There are many places along the path to just sit and reflect. When things get hectic here at home, I try to put myself back there in my thoughts.

A beautiful retreat from the same business which probably urged Saint Francis to come up here. It is a bit of a hike, but all on good road; bring water. No photography once inside...absolutely wonderful

We were recommended to come here. What a find. It was very quiet when we came and the monks made us so welcome. What a tranquil and calm place. Beautiful views. Astounding history. We then recommended it to all our guests when they came for our wedding

We drove up and there is space for parking. It's quite an uphill 4klm walk from Assisi but many seem to travel the way of St Francis. Delightful buildings set in cool woodlands (so good on a hot day tho if you walk up to the place you'll be in full sunshine) and tiny entrances to squeeze through to view St Francis's place to pray. Then through to explore the hermitage. Delightful tranquil and interesting place to visit, for those of faith or without.
