Torraccia di Chiusi is the most wonderful B&B I have ever stayed (I'm from the California Wine Country). The location is the central Chianti region, excellent for wine tasting and exploring San Gimignano, Siena, Florence. The B&B is hilltop across the valley from San Gimignano, nestled in the vineyards with a pool over looking the valley, on a quiet dirt road. The food is simple, authentic and spectacular! The wine is excellent, the service personal and caring. Expect a superior B&B experience, simple and exquisite.

Our family of four (Mom + Dad + two young adult daughters) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was lovely to relax in the pool after each active day, and the views from the pool area across the valley to San Gimignano were spectacular. All around were hillsides covered in olive trees, grapevines or forest. A particular highlight of our stay was walking to San Gimignano along the Via Francigena through the countryside. The way is well-marked so don't hesitate to enjoy this hike. Our hosts were surprised that we walked there and back - evidently most people take a cab back, which is certainly an option.

The food and the service were good, and eating out on the terrace was delightful.

We made a day trip to Siena from here which is definitely a reasonable way to go there. One could do the same to Florence as well.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper level room.

This place is simply gorgeous. It's not a hotel but it is more than a B&B - for example don't expect to head to any bar area to order a drink during the day, there is none. You can have lunch and dinner here though if you let the staff know during breakfast. As the other reviews have stated, the food is beautiful and really plentiful. The dinner in the evening is 5 courses - we rarely made it to the end! The menu is set so you don't really have a choice, however having said that the staff are very accommodating. Our 3 year old son had home made pizza most evenings and the staff were fantastic with him.
Re the room, we stayed in the suite (no10), it was spacious and bright. Simply decorated with traditional furniture. Our little boy had a sofa bed made up in the living room which was great. The bathroom just a shower, no bath - but in 35* who wants one! There was a small terrace area and whilst big enough to accommodate a few loungers there were none there. (a small criticism).
The grounds and buildings at the property are simply beautiful and some date back to roman times (its true). The pool area is beautiful and the views are stunning.
In terms of location, its a 10 min drive to San Gimignano. This may not be a popular thing to say next - it's a beautiful town but we did not find one nice restaurant there. It was really touristy and we found that the people just did not care about the service etc in any of the eating establishments. We are not particularly fussy in terms of restaurants, however you don't expect to go to Italy and be served a frozen pizza. Another restaurant was so filthy we left before our main course arrived. Perhaps thats just August for you though. Its definitely worth staying at the B&B for your dinners.
To round up - this place is authentic Tuscany. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The food is delicious. The property is old and beautifully presented.
Don't expect hotel treatment or hotel trappings, but for us that was a good thing.

Room Tip: Room 10 - a spacious suite.

We have the pleasure to stay there for 3 nights in June. After we found the place we did not want to leave.
The history and the beauty are something we will remember .
We spent 5 days in Amalfi and wish we spent more time here.

You have to ask Bruno to make you the local steak, it was a treat.
we know we will be back.

Torraccia di Chiusi is about 10 - 15 minutes from the town center. I loved San Gimignano and Torraccia di Chiusi is a fabulous place to stay, because of the hospitality, views (it's on a vineyard & has beautiful grounds) and the dinner & wine was incredible. I highly recommend staying here to experience Tuscany at it's best.
