“A Rustic Tuscan Dream”
Reviewed 24 September 2015 for a stay in October 2013

For my son's 18th birthday we went on vacation to Lucca, Italy. We found this lovely family-owned farm that boasted a beautiful Tuscan villa just outside of the city. And we couldn't have made a better choice! We truly enjoyed our stay at Casa Boccina, it was absolutely fantastic! The villa was beautiful and Britta and Stuart (the owners) have taken great care refurbishing the old home, staying true to the age and style of a rustic Italian villa. We were able to take advantage of the beautiful swimming pool as the weather was just perfect. On the hill above the pool is a fair sized olive orchard, from which the family harvests the olives and makes their own olive oil each fall. It really is an excellent accommodation which also includes a fitness room (off the main house), an outdoor play areas for kids (if you're planning a family vacation), a pool table and an outdoor chess set.
The location is very convenient just 5 minutes from the walled city. As for things to do, we were spoiled for choice. We made several day trips and were able to visit Rome, Pisa, Sienna and Florence, all of which offered their own unique experiences. Britta and Stuart's hospitality was outstanding and I am looking forward to a return visit. I recommend this accommodation to anyone who is looking for an authentic Tuscan experience.

“Every opportunity for a memorable holiday”
Reviewed 23 September 2015 for a stay in June 2014

We visited Casa Boccina early in the summer with a group of friends who were all unknown to one another so we had some trepidation regarding success. We needn’t have worried – from the moment we arrived it was so easy to relax. The facilities were fantastic with plenty of outdoor areas to enjoy, either with others or to sneak privately away. Whilst Lucca itself is close by and offers plenty of eating and drinking opportunities, more often than not we opted to stay home at Casa Boccina and quickly developed a routine of early evening drinks, communal meal preparation, long and conversationally full mealtimes followed by raucous renditions of 1960s hits well into the evening. Luckily the villa is suitably well away from the neighbouring properties and our hosts were willing to join in when invited!

The pool is in a beautiful setting, again offering more seating areas and having the availability of a gym is a real bonus particularly when it is so well stocked with great equipment.

We had such a fabulous time that we are considering repeating the experience with a different group of friends.

“Relaxed, charming, enjoyable holiday”
Reviewed 23 September 2015 for a stay in June 2014

A week in the height of summer enjoying the Afresco dining surrounded by Olive groves, gardens, woodland walks, a gym full of quality apparatus, child climbing & play area, ball games and large enough swimming pool and surround to be usable, comfortable and enjoyable.

Late nights chatting under the moonlight without neighbours to annoy, other than the owner which is always fun. Multiple music options to use and plug your own music entertainment into.

The Farm House is close to Lucca which provided a medieval walled city scape for exploring, walking and lunches throughout the week. Supermarkets and stores were easily found on route to Lucca. Travel around the area was easy, as was parking.

Despite the hot climate and being in the growing season the grounds were well tended, cut and tidy. Paths were clear and weed free, parts of the woodland were in need of work but we understand it was due later that year and did not impact the paths.

We party'd for a week and chilled out, ideal environment.

Liked best: Ease of use and availability of facilities day & night
Liked least: Actions of previous guests where bbq grills etc had not been cleaned and hidden away from sight such that they were missed during quick turnaround times. We are used to cleaning what we use but we also leave places as we expect to find it!

“Fantastic Place!”
Reviewed 22 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We spent 10 days in early September 2015 at Casa Boccina and absolutely loved it! This place was perfect for adults and children alike. Only a 5min drive from the beautiful city of Lucca, you can balance a Tuscan retreat with all you want from a medieval city break.

The casa was very well designed, with so much space to spread out. It has 4 separate outside seating areas, beautiful views of olive groves, and a fantastic sized pool which is very relaxing based on its location.

For children, the pool is fenced off which is great, and there is also a great children's play area at the back of the very large garden, a trampoline, lots of toys etc, all tastefully contained in beautiful and large surroundings. It really is a spacious Casa.

The outside BBQ area was brilliant, as is the numerous outside speakers which we used to full extent to create a lovely atmosphere.

The kitchen was perfect for what we needed, large, very well kitted out (I.e nearly 20 wine glasses we used for wine tasting!) and perfect for social cooking.

Would definitely will come back here. Perfect balance of having close proximity to Lucca and a very relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

Britta and Stuart were also very helpful, as our plane was delayed - on top of a service they offer to get food on your arrival - they also selected 'easier' foods to have (cheese/meats/beers) knowing we would arrive too late to be bothered to cook...exactly what I like..great service when they 'think for you' and get it so spot on!

“Perfect getaway - loved the solitude and pool. Perfect”
Reviewed 22 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Not sure what the last reviewer was on but we had a great time. Britta as the on-site caretaker looked after us magnificently and ensured that questions we raised were resolved quickly with many just being our understanding.

The Pool was superb - its heated from the sun through solar panels so unless the sun is shinning it doesn't get heated - pretty simple and it works. We had some hot days and it was very refreshing.

The air conditioning was a god send and very helpful to cool us down.

Our children loved the expedition to the end of the property where the climbing frame and swing set is located. They played extensively in that area.

Kitchen very well equipped - range cooker was excellent allowing us to use the double ovens to cook for our friends.

Wifi was good - could be faster but this is Italy and it was great to be able to receive UK TV. We were informed at booking that some of the terrestrial channels weren't available but this is common across Europe.

Table tennis table is being renewed we were told - but it was perfectly serviceable and no issues when using. Great to play out of the sun.

For sure with every property if you set out to find fault you will - we had a great time and will most definitely return.
