We booked this through lastminute.com as a 'secret hotel'. The price was very reasonable, it is literally around the corner from the Galleria dell'Accademia. It's about a 15 minute brisk walk downtown. It reminded us of a business hotel.
Clean rooms, nice breakfast, friendly staff.
Would have liked something with more character, but that is personal preference.
No complaints. A great hotel for business travellers or 'grey nomads'

Room Tip: Comfy beds, good shower, make sure you have a room away from the road though as you could hear the c...

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, clean. Only part lacking is english TV channels, would have been nice to relax watching a movie after a hard day of sight-seeing.

Our favorite hotel in Florence is the beautiful Athenaeum Hotel on Via Cavour. It is sleek and modern and spotlessly clean. The rooms are very comfortable. And, the hotel staff is wonderful.Helpful in every way, they will provide train schedules, make restaurant reservations, give directions, and so on.
The location is ideal for us too. A few blocks from the city center, it's close, but not too close, to the most important sights.
We love this hotel and stay there every year when we visit Florence.

This well situated and very comfortable hotel will not remind you of Florence's medieval architecture but it will leave you with the souvenir of very friendly and helpful personnel. The whole hotel is modern in it's design and decoration and not particularly original but it is extemely well appointed, spotlessly clean and very pleasant in general.
Where the Athenaeum scores over the others is it's extremely friendly and efficient staff. From the reception, to the bar and down to the breakfast room fluent English and smiles are the order of the day. Didn't eat in their restaurant but the recommendation they gave me for a restaurant was spot on - see 'Tito's, also on Trip Advisor.
Just a few small remarks, 2 single bed matresses pushed together never made a kingsize double....something hot at breakfast would be a nice addition to the very good buffet and a little note explaining how to find the international channels on the TV wouldn't go amiss. The multi-charger in the room is very useful and was much appreciated, allowing to connect and recharge almost any kind of electronic communications device.
At 120 Euro per night, including breakfast, for a two-night stay, I found this hotel excellent value for money. For business or pleasure, would I go back ? Without hesitation.

Room Tip: I heard that the rooms at the front are a little noisy so choose one at the back overlooking the pat...

This is a modern hotel in the historic district of Florence, I believe the San Lorenzo district/San Marco district. The hotel is a straight shot to the Duomo, about a 10-15 min walk. Add another 5-10 to Santa Maria Novella if you're going on to the train station. It is pretty easy to find and the staff for the most part was friendly. If you're looking for an italian experience, you're not at the right hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights and booked a junior suite, which was very large. It could have easily fit 5 people and had two bathrooms and a door in between for privacy.

The breakfast was good, offered a decent amount of options to eat and juice/coffee to drink. The room was quiet, the room I was in was set back a little so I didn't have any issues with noise and the room overlooked the courtyard. There was free wifi and the bed was comfortable. The only thing that would be a drawback could be the walk to everything, which isn't bad in the morning but after a long day of walking it can be a little daunting. For the price though I would stay here again.
